Good point Dave.
I am staring to like you scenario more and more.
Think I'll start a cat herding school.
Wonder if I can get federal funding !
Maybe if I saddle up to one of the local politicians
and make the right donation offer . Hummmmmm
I'll have to do some penciling.

Of course they're not all gaming the system.

But paying single women to have children and taking money away from them for getting married is as stupid as it gets.

That has been a foca point regarding welfare mothers for years by.people who believe the more kids one has, the more they draw on welfare. It is true of course that a mother with several children will receive more assistance especially in food, but nothing like some.people believe.

Hey I am not saying they all are working the system. I would wager a significant number. Unless things have tightened up.
Granted I haven't been paying strict attention to it for some time. I might be going on old data.
What about life time ssdi for children with learning disabilities. That's a biggy. Or it used to be. There were cases of entire households
on that one. Doc . There is a ton of free stuff outside of basic welfare. I could dig it up with a little time if interested. I think.
It's been a few years but I doubt wisk and other programs are defunct.
Hey I am not saying they all are working the syste... (show quote)

As I said, those who are doing well are lying and they are doing it regarding several.programs.

Who said that they live better?

The Democrats don't want them living better. They want them dependent.

Dave, that has been the gripe on the street for decades. Do you mean you've never heard people saying they think some women on welfare keep having children because it brings them more assistance and money? I've heard that talk for decades.

The welfare system has always been like a trap and is really hard to get out. I only used it for maybe 2 years after being separated and relized real fast they werent helping me and got out.

I didn't say I never heard anyone say it. I didn't say that they don't exist. I don't know how many do exist, but I know a few of them.

That's irrelevant to my point, which is why I didn't make that point.

My point was that simple economic principles are easy to follow. As easy as Occam's Razor. Here are 3 undeniable truths.

1. Pay young girls to have children and more young girls will have children. Pay them more to have more children, and more of them will have more children.
2. Punish mothers for marrying and fewer will marry.
3. Punish parents for working and fewer parents will work.

So currently we pay a 17 year old girl to have a child, and punish her if she marries or gets a job.... If you don't see bad consequences resulting from this you're not looking very hard.

I understand your.position. What I don't understand why.you say we pay a 17 y.o. to have a child. Are you saying that these recipients do not live below standard quality and somehow having children and qualifying for welfare is a goal?

It's a lifestyle.

Sometimes it's a family tradition.

True, many welfare receiving adults were children in welfare recipient families but I do not believe for many it is looked.upon as a career opportunity.

I think rather for many it is the result of poor choice and lack of self control.

I'm sure they don't look upon it as s career. Chances are some don't even consider having a career of any kind.
