I haven't made any noise about a AR-15 other than it is no protection against a well trained army with AR16's and more. As for a .223 I've taken the front end off Coyote at 300 yards with one. The round is designed to tumble once it enters making it very devastating. Your M-1, if I'm not mistaken, is a .308 which is a nice round but I would prefer a 30-06 as you can load it with more punch. My all time favorite is a 30-40 krag--that was my first deer gun and better than a 30-30 but not a 30-06. My brother swears by his 7mm Magnum but shooting a 150gr (the most you can get for a 7mm) a 30-06 shoots just as flat. You get more boom and few more fps but I don't see a lot of difference. As for a .22--I wouldn't even try it on an animal at 300 yards but you are welcome to it if that's what you want. As for anyone coming after your guns it isn't likely but if think dying so you and have a M-1 vs a 30-06 bolt action that's perfectly fine with me...

Did you fail to see the word magnum in my words about a .22? That thing hits very hard and I don't think there is a .223 round that could hit as hard.

Paranoid? I don't think so! You underestimate Obama if you think he isn't planning something huge before he's SUPPOSED to leave. The people in 1930's Germany also said there was nothing going on with Hitler and thankfully the world had the powerful U.S. to knock him out. Who does the world have now if Obama continues on the way he's headed? Once he gets our guns it's a cake walk for him.

The next POTUS won't be able to get our guns our overstay either.
The one after that? Too early to say.
What the next POTUS does, and is able to do is critical.
