What is wrong with more thorough back ground checks and, restrict people on the terrorist watch list from buying guns?

So what laws would you like to see enforced? And who else do you have to enforce laws but bureaucratic pond scum? Are we supposed to have a bunch of rent-a-cops doing the enforcing?

I would like to see stops on purchases investigated and prosecuted. I would like to see BATFE Agents who commit felonies and misdemeanors prosecuted, rather than promoted. I would like to see a no-fly list that has only names of people who have been proven to have connections to terrorist activity, rather than see people put on the list with no due process, no proof. You seem to be perfectly fine with people being put on a no-fly list for no reason. Maybe one day you can be one of them, and have to go to court at considerable expense to yourself to clear your name so you can buy a plane ticket for your business or vacation or whatever. Then you can watch the morons who caused your inconvenience get promoted rather than fired, and heave a slgh of relief that you have done your part to prevent a terror attack. You can feel that way right up till the time we have another terror attack by someone who slid through the cracks because some dumbass bureaucrat was busy screwing up an innocent person's life.
Most of the people on these lists are not guilty. Mistakes are the rule, rather than the exception. No judge would issue a warrant based on no more evidence than is required to be placed on one of these lists.
If you oppose the NDAA, the "Patriot Act" like most Liberals and many conservatives, you cannot support these lists. They are witch hunts, plain and simple.

The short answer is that if you don't like the Bill of Rights the way to change it is worth another amendment.

My point is that it's kind of hard to violate just one Amendment.

Clearly with polls taken the majority of the people on both sides of the fence are for this, so why what's the problem with passing the bill?

Morgan-believe that if the bill specifically/only addressed the "Terror Watch List" it would probably have a better chance of passing. Believe both the "No Fly List" and the TWC were included in the bill. Many people end up on the No Fly List who should not be there. Therefore , their Constitutional Rights would be violated if not allowed to purchase a gun. However, the Terror Watch List,a much longer list, should be more accurate and contain the names of people who need special attention due to associations with terror groups. They should not be allowed to purchase a gun as long as they are on the TWL . This is a distraction by democrats who refuse to address terrorism and its root causes. This country will never be safe as long as they are in charge. Good Luck America !!!

As I just went through this...Do you think lining the sheople up, like livestock going to slaughter, in airports and ransacking their persons and belongings is making us safer?

Leaving Vegas a few years back, my brother and I were in line waiting to go through "security". The woman? ahead of us was wearing a hijab. My brother turned to me and said "you watch, they will let her go straight through and make me take off my hat" He was wearing an English driving cap. Sure enough they hardly looked at her as they waved her through and, yes. made my brother remove his hat.

Do you think the livestock lines we are herded through in airports makes us safer when they are not allowed to profile for fear of beinf accused of racism?

Do you think that passing more restrictive guns laws that criminals will NOT obey and can still get guns make us safer? or just feel good?

Do you think putting law abiding citizens on no fly, no buy gun lists makes citizens safer or makes the government safer and more free to carry out its tyrannical agenda and put people that question that agenda on lists to be watched?

If, as obammy and his sidekick the bitch say, guns do not make us safer, why is they surrounded, as are all other politicians, by gun wielding security details?

The sheep are happy with the farmer until the day of slaughter.
Except overpaid, braindead, unaccountable governme... (show quote)

May I add those same sheeple are sheared of their assets many times over until the day of slaughter !!

First, Welcome to OPP. Always nice to have new members. Second, watch lists and background checks do very little. Omar Mateen passed all checks and would have passed even the proposed tighter ones. The only way to stop this type of mass shooting is to eliminate the weapons used to commit it. Since that is unlikely to happen all the rest is just window dressing...

Wrong as usual, Peter. You propose destruction of the 2nd Amendment. I propose hiring people who know how to assess and appraise people, and I propose finding a real President who does not demand jihadists be ignored, who has the guts to call a spade a spade, and a terrorist a terrorist. Obama has never and will never have guts.........he is evil to the core, and as much a threat as ISIS is. If it weren't for Obama, we wouldn't be in the mess he has gotten us. You can deny it until Hell freezes over , and you would be just as wrong as you currently are.d If you support his manic policies and edicts, you too are as evil as he is. The LAST THING WE NEED IS YOUR SICK ADVICE.
