The Bill of Rights protects all citizens--except one: the 2nd

The Second Amendment protects only gun owners, so it is not a right but a privilege for an elite class of people. The Second Amendment is a direct threat to my right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Unrestricted gun ownership? This is a threat on the common good. It is domestic terrorism. The irresponsible proliferation of arms to any citizen to use in any form they feel a need, is an abomination.

What elite class of people are your referring to Rumitoid? The second amendment restricts only two classes of people, felons being the first. Are you a felon? If not, then you are part of that "elite" class, right? If you can afford the gun and can pass the background check..... is that the problem?? Under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), people who have been involuntarily committed to a mental institution or found “not guilty” in court by reason of insanity cannot purchase firearms. Is this what makes you so angry? Just find yourself a different hobby, one that you can not injure yourself or others with.....there has to be something other than shooting which would bring you happiness and make you feel part of an "elite" class.

Unrestricted gun control? Anyone anywhere having a gun? And those without must live in fear or concede to an ideology of violence? An eye for eye? Can you not see how terrible and irresponsible it is to oppose gun control? Reasonable things like universal registration? Do you hate domestic tranquility and our pursuit of happiness so much that you want anyone anywhere accommodated with fatal force? Everyone armed? It is total madness. This is so far down the rabbit hole to talk about this I feel I am in a Lewis Carroll novel.

Felons are not restricted in all states because a lack of registration and background checks. And again that second group you mentioned, by reason of insanity, can purchase arms or be given them by family for the same reasons. This is insane! And a direct threat to our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Gun owners are "elite" because the 2nd amendment protects only them and not those put at risk by by those armed citizens. My choice of non-violence is violated by this amendment. I have no redress. The 2nd Amendment is in clear violation of our general rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It serves the few, not the all.

There are no universal restrictions, which is the only way restrictions can work. The states with the loosest gun laws have the greatest gun violence, and traveling to such states to purchase a firearm is not restricted. This love of guns is pure, unadulterated madness.

Rumitoid,

Your information is flawed to a point. The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993 (Brady Act) requires federally licensed firearms dealers (FFLs) to perform background checks on prospective firearms purchasers to ensure that the firearm transfer would not violate federal, state or local law.1 As originally adopted, the Brady Act included interim as well as permanent provisions. The Act’s interim provisions, implemented on February 28, 1994, applied to handgun sales only. On November 30, 1998, the permanent provisions of the Brady Act went into effect, establishing the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) (see below), and extending the Act’s application to purchasers of long guns and persons who redeem a pawned firearm. There was a loophole, but in Jan 2016, Obama set in motion plans to close that loophole.

Answer honestly, other than your desk job while in the Air Force, how many times have you even come in contact with a weapon? How many times have you been threatened by someone with a gun? Do you know how many of your friends have guns?

If you are honest.... then I have to ask you..... why do you feel so threatened by the right that has been on the books for 225 years? Have you done something to make someone want to shoot you?

Where in the hell do you come up with this shit? No rational American, gun owner or not, believes everyone should be or needs to be armed. Good grief, there must be at least 150 million Americans like yourself that have an irrational fear of guns (Hoplophobes). Some people get all jammed up just seeing a picture of a gun. It wouldn't be possible to arm everyone even if it were the law. The 2nd Amendment is a RIGHT. What that means is you have a choice whether or not to bear arms. And obviously you've made your choice, so STFU.

It is really pathetic when some sniveling, arrogant little pissant with a cob up its ass thinks it has the RIGHT to tell everyone else how they should live. That's liberalism in a nutshell, and it is a friggin scourge on mankind.

The right to bear arms protects EVERYONE, you idiot. Do you have any idea how many times an armed citizen has saved another persons life? You make it sound like every one in this country who picks up a gun is automatically a violent criminal. How irrational can one get?

My dad gave me my first gun when I was 7 years old, I've owned guns since and have never injured or killed anyone, nor had an accident with a gun.

You could benefit by some mental therapy, see if you can get that yoke of fear off your neck.
