TERM LIMITS FOR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES

My name is Ilene Richman. I would like to start a 501c4 to have citizens draft petitions to limit term limits of a Senator to 2 terms and a Representative to 3 terms. In addition, I want to add a "no-lobbying" campaign for people in Congress and those who have worked for the federal government to five years. There is a swinging door in Congress and for people working for the federal govt. The door swings into being a lobbyist or starting an organization that lobbies and collects money. There is too much power in our federal government. Remember the Magna Carta in England that took away the power from the King. We need a Magna Carta in US that limits the powers of the President (changing any law he wants without legislation and called executive privilege) and Congress being exempted from laws passed for the citizens of this country as Obamacare. These people work for us and are hardly in session. We have to set a certain number of days that Congress and the President must work, as ordinary citizens that work 50 weeks a year. Are you with me? If so, please contact me through One Political Plaza to join my 501c4 organization for term limits, number of days legislators, President, Supreme Court judges must be in session and work.

Some interesting ideas, but I think there will reports that hell is freezing over before the elite power structure will do anything to limit their powers

The States need to have CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION. This should be on all state ballots. The legislators cannot be part of this convention. Mark Levin would be an excellent consultant o make sure the wording is correct.

What about a one term-six year Presidential run? Less elections, less expense. We need to police our selections ourselves as to not put our trust in the government system. It is unbelievable that we demand the government follow all the constitutional rules when we have already allowed them to bring an anti-American in as President. We have consistently allowed this lie and only let it be revealed at the middle of his second term. What were we thinking? They, even now, do nothing.

Are we already asleep?

Great and not so laughable. How about a one-time-six-year-term for President? How about a secure way to keep an eye out on what's going on without feeling like a criminal?

How about a more immediate measure for dealing with government corruption?

I'm for whatever fixes our government and gets it back on it's right track. Thank you.

Many who call for a constitutional convention to address their own personal gripes, fail to realize that the potential exists for other peoples gripes to come forward as well. Many would scream if the second amendment came under review for instance. But that is the risk if an existing amendment is subjected to change. Plus the never ending court challenges would take years.
But keep trying to encourage those who like simple, quick solutions.

Most all of us have been told to do the same thing so don't feel like I'm picking on you or anything like that.

The Commonwealth of Virginia has a one six year term limit. They seem to be doing well.

It is contingent on how such a convention is established.

Since a convention is not even a topic on the horizen, everything posted here is wishful thinking and conjecture about what could happen. But neither side would be free from the risk of the unexpected. K street would love to spend money to change the things in the constitution they hate. Any many would welcome the chance to "update" the verbage to the 21st century.
