This past week I've looked around me and I see that Americans and American politicians are acting like chickens with their heads cut off.

Will Rogers said: "Every once in a while, the world needs someone to come along who knows things."

Today, that person is Vladimir Putin. He will have access to information that no other person can, or will, have. And he will use the information correctly.

Information such as this: The extent of ISIS infiltration into the multi-factioned Syrian rebellion is greater than anyone in the West realizes, or cares to believe.

For seven years, Americans have allowed a traitor (a traitor to the U.S. Constitution) to sit in the White House. And for the last four years, they have allowed that person to violently usurp legitimate governments in the Middle East (what power gives America the authority to do that?) with the result that a military government presides in Egypt---needed in order to maintain stability in that country---and an uneasy and uncertain political situation still exists in Libya. Does anyone remember Libya?

A quarter of a million people have died in Syria, and that number does not reflect the number of maimed and injured, or the refugees. And now Rubio has seen fit to politicize the attempt by Putin to bring stability to Syria, and perhaps a lawful, and stable transition to a new government, or new type of government.

Rubio either has no knowledge of Middle Eastern history or Middle Eastern culture if he believes that an American type of democracy (I call it Americanism) can always work in that area. Or, if he is anti-Russia simply because of his Cuban background, he is sadly misinformed on current events.

Marco, there is one thing you CAN do---ask Putin what he is doing. Can you overcome your American arrogance in order to do that? Trump did.

To refresh the memory of those whose knowledge of American "intervention" in the Middle East is sadly lacking, I give you Project Ajax, the CIA-induced overthrow (1953) of the legitimate Iranian government, which led to the Iranian revolution of 1979 and the consequent taking of American hostages (who were housed in a hotel directly linked to Project Ajax), and that event, coupled with the CIA-provoked Soviet aggression in Afghanistan resulted in 9/11/2001.

Wake up, America. Your foreign policy stinks.

I turned my back on America; but I am doing this for the world. My loyalties lie with all the peoples of this planet.

You've said so much so where to begin? First of all, the ME is a total mess and much of that is a direct result of our being too involved over there. You are VERY correct in that an American style gov cannot exist in the ME.

As to what Putin is doing, well, he apparently NEEDS Syria and Assad is apparently his route to that, so while claiming to war with ISIS he is actually trying to deter the American backed rebels hoping to ease forces effect on the Assad army and allow Assad to begin to be successful against ISIS.

It almost seems as if Putin might be supportive of ISIS rather covertly but ISIS is a much bigger threat to Putin than they are to us (not including Israel in that "us").

Its a quagmire but something is going on. Bill Clinton hinted in an interview on CNN earlier this week that we don't really know if there might be some sort of plan in place between Obama and Putin. he might be right. They might have some sort of agreement going here.

One thing is totally for sure, our foreign policy is without logic or reason.

Why ever would Putin "need" Syria?

The Middle East "needs" to acquire some sort of stability (after 4 years of Obama intervention) before the world itself can acquire any sort of stability.

By the way, I told you I made some new friends this summer. Well, at least one.

It's good to see you back Carol, glad you had a safe trip.

Just wondering if you could clear something up for me about Rubio. Didn't he exactly predict the actions Russia would take, in the first Republican debate?

"It’s pretty straightforward: He wants to reposition Russia once again as a geopolitical force. He himself said that the fall of the Soviet Union, the destruction of the Soviet Union, was the greatest catastrophe of the 20th century. And now he’s trying to reverse that. . . . He is exploiting a vacuum that this administration has left in the Middle East.

Here’s what you’re going to see in the next few weeks: The Russians will begin to fly combat missions in that region — not just targeting ISIS, but in order to prop up Assad."

Why would Putin need Syria? I don't know, I just heard it on the news. Ar! I'm not sure really unless he thinks he needs a big presence in the ME. I've always wondered about all those old soviet states which were heavily Muslim. ISIS could very easily get a force going in those countries and be able to bring havoc to Russia. i guess it would look better if Putin were to appear to be helping someone like Assad in his attempt to fight ISIS. He would get a different credibility other than protecting Christians and Israel. He can't want to appear to actually want something we want, ya know.

ME stability? What's that?

Glad you made a new friend!!

Putin's attacks were all at the opposite end of the country compared to where ISIS is located. The attacks were only to support al-Assad at our expense. Putin is testing us again to see what he can get away with. He will push the envelope as far as he can. Putin must have come away from the meeting with Obama this week thinking he could do whatever he wants.....

Obama is not stupid...He never cared about the international affairs, just his domestic agenda. The international issues have been little more than a distraction for him. However with the mess he has created, it is likely to move from a distraction to being "all consuming", as we are seeing take place.....

Putin knows a few things:
1) Obama is a schmuck & doesn't have a diplomatic bone in his body....
2) Americans really do not want to get into another proxy war in the friggin desert......
3) Syria is a good place to expend old munitions & sell more to a dictator........
4) The more "refugees" the US takes, the greater the chances that a few of them will hit us... Making us spend more cash & man power hunting such folks down.... He's trying to do to us what we did to the USSR in Afghanistan... And Putin is much better prepared as a leader....Makes that POS in our oval office look just as bad as he is!!!!

Our foreign policy is pathetic!!! Our enemies are emboldened, and our soldiers are limited/censored and dismissed for trying to carry out the function of their purpose... Obama has skirted the issues and allowed too many Americans to grow comfortable by less than forth-wright in what is truly going on or saying nothing in the face of evil, and that evil continues to fester and spread while that POS plays gold and makes kissy face with Iran."pffttt..

You might be surprised who that new "friend" is. Or maybe not.

Americans are pretty good at speculating, don't you think?

I watched a show on Fox this a.m. where an economist, a businessman and a feminist were debating ME issues and Putin's motives. Not a one had bothered to find out facts.
Pure Americanism.

I heard Charles Payne on some Fox News program this morning refer to the Ovomit-induced destruction in Syria as a "feckless policy that created a vacuum." The most euphemistically euphemism in the history of mankind!

Good post!
Obama is mad at Putin for bombing in Syria . And he probably is ! Putin bombed ISIS rebel terrorist who Obama is supplying with arms and people to over throw the Syria president Assaud!
I think Putin is doing the right thing, killing ISIS terrorist in Syria . How in the hell does Obama think Syria would be better off with ISIS controlling Syria instead of Assaud?
And what business does the U.S. have in arming people to over throw a foreign governments leader?

Exactly, MickeyD.

By the way, how does one distinguish a "moderate" Syrian rebel (CIA-backed) from any other? (I'm working on this problem).

And how do Americans distinguish doctors in "Doctors Without Borders" from whoever the hell we're fighting over their in Afghanistan?

In addition, LJ. What has Rubio got against Russia being a "geopolitical force"? Putin for years has been intelligently arguing for a multi-polar world. And what else can this world be, but multi-polar? Get smart, Marco. You've already tried to get Syrias.

I see evidence that Putin is intent on being the worldly commander. He wants to make Russia a lot more powerful than it is today. The fastest way to do that is to grow the Russian land area and envelop hundreds of millions of additional citizens via conquest or partnership. Today, Russia has half the population of US and is way behind in it's industrial complex. Obammie scolded Romney in 2010, ridiculing him, "The Cold War has been over 20 years." Romney said, "Russia is the greatest security threat to the US. He is right and obamme is wrong. And all you friggin libturds are wrong too. And I don't give a damn if my spennin is outa whak.
