Primitive. It seems to me if you use an in line muzzleloader with a fiberglass stock and a scope sight, your are defeating the purpose. My muzzleloader is a side lock copy of an 1835 JP Gemmer trade rifle. I still practice making fire with flint and steel to reassure myself I can still do so. I did make one concession: I got a barrel with a 1:48 twist so I can shoot maxis and minis out of it, but this was common in the 1850s, as the patched ball ammo became less popular. Lots of rifles with slow twist barrels were replaced with faster twist, to stabilize the "new" Minie' balls.
I have been known to burn some black powder. Even ... (show quote)

Some of my fondest memories are going to an abandoned quarry in Pennsylvania, with my dad, and firing off a few hundred rounds. Good times. My favorite was the Super Blackhawk. 44 magnum. It's what I learned to shoot with. I was twelve years old and could barely get my hands around the grips. What made me a great shooter was him leaving one of the chambers empty and handing me the gun. If I flinched on the empty chamber, I had to drop and do fifty push ups. I believe I got it on the third attempt. I'm a slow learner. :)

Mine looks a lot like that. I bought it 25 or so, years ago at a farm auction for 35 bucks. I have no idea of it's age, but she's a shooter!! The first year I had it, I got a deer with it. I don't hunt deer anymore, since I am not a big fan of deer meat. Quail, and hogs are about all I'll hunt anymore. I love to eat both, and the damn hogs are destroying my brother's ranch.
I hadn't thought about, but maybe I'll try it on a hog this year.

Now I could eat that! With green chile, of course!
Mrs. B. Will be required to wear her big girl panties this year, and hunt on her own! She knows the area, the stands, is well armed, and capable of handling it. We are all connected by radios, and phones, so she can suck it up!
She will have a fun time watching the wildlife! She ain't gonna shoot nuthin!!
I know her!!
