Such a comment could be expected from someone as small as you. Sorry to disappoint you but we married AFTER he left the Corps and during the period where he was completing his education. ;) ;) ;)

I am not a military widow. That would be the case if my husband had been killed while in the military. My husband did not need to take his identification from a military position as many here do. I am a widow PERIOD. In addition, most of your arguments are distasteful.
In addition, how long do you expect people to thank you for doing battle when it was a matter of choice and quite a while ago. Comeraderie on the forum is one thing but I don't feel I owe you anything. You guys would take this thing back to WWI. Find something else to be proud of (like doing something that would improve humanity), if you can. I hope you realize that those with no self respect are always the ones willing and ready to take down anyone. Some people ALWAYS need (or create) someone that they can safely look down upon.

I've got to go - veteranarian's appointment. Bye.

I hope he doesn't find anything wrong with you.
I do not claim anyone owes me anything. I was using my military service as an example of experience, rather than wishful thinking.

Since you do not consider yourself a military widow, I suppose I don't either. My self-respect is intact, since I am not the one who substitutes opinion and wishful thinking for fact. You seem to think that you are the final authority on everything. You are not. You were wrong about the "multi-action rifles." You were wrong about Presidential authority as per the Constitution. You were wrong about reactor fuel and nuclear weapons. You were wrong about your vaunted wasp spray. You have been wrong nearly everytime you have offered an opinion. Now, when I offer an olive branch, you refuse it. The first rule of extricating yourself from a hole, Alicia, is stop digging it deeper.

You really feel the necessity to "win" this argument. I never considered our conversations as a contest. They are truly designed to present differences of opinion and not be a competition. therefore YOU ARE WRONG! :!: :!: :!:

Now I understand. I think, therefore, I am. Wrong. Got it.

You say that you have many kind thoughts . . . until . . . . True kind thoughts reflect in the countenance of an individual but your countenance is always one of suspicion. Not a good message at all.

No, I'm NOT suspicious of people I meet. I assume they are good people "Until they show me otherwise". I'm not suspecting them to show me otherwise, but if they do, (and some have in the past) then I have nothing to do with them.

Take you for instance, I don't think you are a person that would do intentional harm to someone. I would feel comfortable in that regard around you. But your views are 180 degrees from mine. I know that no matter how much someone tries to tell you the truth, you will not take it as the truth. So, I would just avoid you. And I feel very sorry for the ones you influence.

I wonder if all those people in Tunis today are thinking they should have been packing while those terrorists were mowing them down. I am sure that some of those I saw running up those stairs outside the museum would have been glad to have had a means to "shoot back". Maybe those scenes were just something produced by Fox News to play their game of lies but I don't think so.

   You're right Roy, That's one of the reasons I carry concealed all my waking hours. To protect not only myself, but those around me just in case. We never know what some of the crazies are going to do these days.

Let's just suppose for a minute. I don't know you and I wouldn't know you from Eve. Let's suppose you were walking down a street and some drug crazed junkie grabs you and puts a gun or a knife to your head or throat. Now, I'm walking down the cross street, big, dumb, and happy, and I come around the corner and see what's happening. My instinct would be to pull my gun and either shoot the sonofabitch or at least disarm him, it would be his choice, and then call for the police. Now, you would condemn for perhaps saving your life?

That is the reason that while I support open carry, I almost never do it myself. Why give the criminal the advantage of surprise? If he is determined to use deadly force, does it not make sense to start with someone who is visibly armed when he has the jump? It is also a matter of common courtesy. We have hoplophobes amongst us. Can't go around scaring them, now, can we? There is also the matter of some people who carry openly have that unmistakeable "Look at me, I'm a badass" swagger that makes me want to smack their dumb asses. These are the people the anti-gunners think we all are. The ones who see deadly force as a first choice, rather than a last resort. I digress. As far as I am concerned, the first clue, or warning a criminal bent on using deadly force should have that I am armed should, ideally, be a bright flash and a loud bang.

Alicia, You haven't responded to this post. Are you afraid it would destroy your argument?
