My son, being a 23-year veteran police officer in a big city where this type of training was also forced on them, would agree with you. Morale since has gone down the tubes, and they're having difficulty in not only obtaining new recruits, but quality recruits. As my son says "beware of what you ask for."
The point made by your son is indeed valid in more ways than not. The political pandering to privileged classes created by the politicians, and the assault upon lawful and constitutional law enforcement that directly results from it, has motivated a good many of our best officers to retire or otherwise leave police work rather than put up with what amounts to the encouragement of criminal conduct. It also serves to attract those most apt to be abusive of their trust while discouraging those not so inclined. Unfortunately, this is not some coincidence or accident.
