Iranian students once again, rising up against the Islamic Republic. This time triggered by the death of 22 year old Aahsa Amini in police custody after she was arrested by the so-called "morality police" for wearing her hajib too loosely.
This is pretty much the same thing that happened here in 2020 (most notably in Portland) following the death of George Floyd in police custody. People, especially young people, get tired of law enforcement taking advantage of their authority to abuse people.
But what is happening in Iran is also a glimpse of our future if we let the Christian Nationalists turn us into another religious republic like Iran. Already, they are trying push for laws based on religious views. Even on this very site, Christian Nationalists are blaming all bad things on a lack of morals while insisting that you can't have morals if you're not a Christian. The message from Iran's ayatollah, is the same. You can't have morals without practicing Islam. And for the sake of "decency" and peace and all things good, morality needs to be enforced.
Indeed, the religious government of Iran is a preview of what Christian Nationalists are pushing for. They will say it's different because Iran is Muslim, not Christian. But when it comes to governing a population of people, the effect will be the same.

Nothing against faith in God or worship... Indeed, there's plenty of room in our personal lives for faith in God. But religion has no business in politics and when it's forced, you get morality police and young generations ready to burn the city down.

Our Founding Fathers thought God and Christianity worked pretty well in the starting of our nation. And do not even post that lie about they were all deists.

As a faith, sure but they were also very clear about keeping the church out of the government.

No, they were very clear that there would not be a state religion or that the government would be the state religion.

Your misunderstanding of Islam is absolutely breathtaking! Maybe, it’s only overshadowed by your absurd misunderstanding of the relationship between Christianity (or any religion) and the government of this country.

Is that why they had church services in the Capitol building, appropriated money to buy Bibles, etc. They were more concerned with keeping the government out of the church. Separation of church and state has been twisted 180 degrees from what Jefferson meant. You should actually read some of the quotes from.what they said about God in government.

StraightUpSideDown, the Bible talks about people like you.
Isaiah 5:20-21. Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!
Fits you to a tee.

Well said. We do have one of the bill of rights saying that we can't have a state religion and I doubt any effort to get this out of the constitution would fail miserably.

What a dishonest parallel. So many false comparisons, but that's what you do if you are a Leftist.

I believe you, and I have two distinctly different sets of morals.
Doesn't mean they are all faith based, though. Mine are based on right, and wrong. I've tried to be a good Christian, but, fail at it every day. I'll prolly burn in hell with you, because I don't have the patience for your stupidity.
The things you claim as "morals" are nothing more than things you expect others to tolerate because that's what you want to do out in the general public, and force everyone to tolerate.
I also find it amusing how you apply "morals" based on political parties.
Has it ever occurred to you that there are millions of independents out here who think both suck?
Personally, I see very few of what I think are "morals" on your side.
