I think all the younger generation is guilty of this, ours is! It is definitely worth the extra effort to make memories that they will all remember. We are on our 3rd generation……….8 great grand babies from 1 month to 5 years old. Six of them live close by and they have their Nanny wrapped around their fingers! LOL!

Lucky you💖👍👍👍

By golly………I think you’re right! 👍.

I realize that many of us old folks say this but………it was such a more simple life, slower, kinder, closer with our families and friends, and neighbors. Money wasn’t as important back then as long as your necessities were met! We put our best clothes on to go to church, even though it was just the bestest jeans for the males and starched and ironed best dress for the girls! It was the only time I put a dress on! LOL!

One of my favorite memories is the once a month afternoon singing sessions……..with the old red Baptist hymnal
book. It didn’t matter if you could sing on key or not…..😂 I can still hear them loud and clear!

And then the INTERNET was born! The very thing that connected the world, disconnected the people! 😰

Yep. It's sad our grandkids can't experience the freedom we had🌞🌞

That sure sounds like them I was talking about.

God doesn't say I have to like them.

How very profound. You can love someone and still dislike them. Sounds a lot more like marriage than religion, that is to me anyway. I knew many married couples who loved one another, physically, but they could not stand to physically be in the same room together.

Happier days when family actually did go to Sunday service and came home to go outside to play instead of into a bedroom to get on a computer or live on phones.. You actually sat down for a Sunday dinner together as well and enduring that time reminisce about your days activities or your Sunday school session or what your friends were doing etc.

Absolutely correct as advancement into the internet took hold so did the disconnect of people.. Now, especially, kids don’t go out and ride bikes, build tree forts, play football or baseball or tag football etc. they sit in their bedroom learning how to play kill games…. Social skills gone, compassion for humane beings and interaction a lost societal value and look at the outcome…

True words...

Kids are so glued to their phones these days they don't even seem to know how to interact with adults anymore. My daughter and her family when they were here would be glued to their games, we had to put the kybosh on it so we could do things.

They are coming in July and the kids (17 and 15) asked of they could shoot grandads guns, we told them of course. We also told them Kien could drive the boat, so the idea is to keep them a bit more engaged...oh, the grandson wants to try shooting some pool as well

You have the right idea~~ engaged in things of interest that are a different kind of fun is what they need to experience… Have fun with them!!!

They still exist. We live rurally. I am blessed to live next door to my daughter/son-in-law/grand-sons. They have electronics but if the weather is nice,/sometimes even when it's not, (especially when they have chores---chickens/goats/horses/dogs/cats/yard work/see if I need anything, Mom boots them out the door and tells them "play outside when your chores are done." Or Dad takes them in his shop and they learn how to do well, just about everything you need to be "handy"/independent in life. And most of their friends do the same with their children.

Funny thing last time they were here, the grand daughter came over to give Jeanne and I a hug and a kiss good night, her older brother was just going to say goodnight, my daughter said Kien thinks he's too old for that, I said uh uh buddy, you are not too old for that, get over here. He had a grin on his face and then it wasn't a big deal to him.

I gave my grandfather a hug and a kiss right up to the day he died...literally...have to walk away

The great thing about it is the boys, 13/10 are happy to play outside. Over-use of electronics is a bad habit, the good news is...it's a habit that is not that hard to break, (at least for the kids,) sometimes it's the parents who want to stick that phone in their children's hands
