What are some things conservatives are right about?

Conservatives are actually right (in theory) on just about everything. They are pro family (in theory), pro life (again in theory), they are pro competition (but not if they can’t control it), they are pro national pride (but only if you are blindly obedient), they are pro schools, but only if if you pay for it in your school districts.

They are pro just about everything that everyone would want to be pro about and that is around the world, not just in the USA.

Only one thing, they don’t do anything that they are pro about, except they are pro business, big business and pro corporate capitalism meaning all the breaks go to largest corps, lobbyists and mega rich who get tax breaks. They are pro family but they don’t want to support families, especially they don’t want to support single women.

Does any of this make sense? I, along with 70% of Americans and most of the world am a ‘conservative’ in that I want to conserve our resources, I want to conserve our environment, I want to conserve life and make sure that health care is provided so that we can meet that goal.

I could go on, do you get it? Conservatives are exactly what the majority of the world including Americans want. They don’t want hand outs, they don’t want to sit on their bums, they don’t want to be on drugs, they don’t want to be unemployed, they don’t want to be homeless, but they are.

Why? Because so called conservative policies are not conservative at all. They promote the rich, they promote the elites, they promote a narrow agenda, they promote racism ...just as the far left promotes racism.

In the end, the global dilemma, especially in the US is where do true conservatives go? They have no place; they are stuck watching two angry bookends; the left who are entitlement oriented and the far right who are angry we are not going to give up whatever illusion they they they are going to give up; and are stuck with no one to represent them.

Why do you think our former president was successful? He had no solutions but he tapped into the obvious, the world is full of conservative people who just want to get on with their lives and make sure they have a fair go. As for the extremes, true conservatives are disgusted by both and that is where we stand today.

Pretty much a "I've come to bury Caesar, not to praise him." narrative. A common political speech trick to turn the crowd against their adversaries.

The author is correct that republicans are actually right. That most of the world is conservative. What the Author ignores is that most conservatives are capitalists while those given enough political power have, as they almost always do, succumbed to crony capitalism. That is the main disillusionment of Republican voters about their chosen leaders and also the main weapon of the Democrats. Claiming that Republicans are the party of the rich even though Democrats politicians have also succumbed to lure of crony capitalism. Just look at the net worth of the Democrat politicians and the wealth of Democrat supporters in Hollywood and Silicon Valley to see the truth of that.

I do not know of any Republicans who don’t want to help families or single women. The question is how, not if. That is true of most of the big political issues today.

The author does try to conflate politically conservative with conservation. Apples and oranges. The two words are politically disassociated from each other.

A true statement. Most want to be left alone by government to live their own lives. The progressive left wants to control people's choices as much as the far right. Neither side should be blindly accepted by the majority of people. But, they are easily manipulated to do just that using the Marc Antony type speech.

Geez, is that now your standard response to any post with which you disagree? I have yet to see you respond such to a similar post of your partisan liking. Since OPP consists of a vast majority of "extremely biased (o)pinion piece(s), devoid of facts and filled with hyperbole"...that doesn't go unnoticed. One would think that "what's good for the goose is good for the gander."

"Physician, heal thyself."

It is a standard response to biased opinion pieces. How should one respond to those?

You only do so when it appears to be one with which you disagree. Those biased opinion pieces with which you agree or align, you either praise or remain silent. That has you following the words of George Washington...

"It's only natural for unbridled partisanship, unrestrained by allegiance to a greater cause, to lead to chaos."

Well Duh - of course I post about the ones I disagree with. That's my opinion.

And I support the ones I agree with. That is also my opinion.

Just as you do.

Bit hypocritical of you to make an issue out of the very same thing you do.

Did you notice my shout-out of Strycker's post not far above this one of yours. If well-written, it is not unusual for me to compliment a usual antagonist's viewpoint. Some of my best friends are conservatives. BTW, I consider myself a centrist who leans left....and, as well as often, to the right.

I did take note of your shout-out to my comments in that instance. I failed then to note it at the time, so, thanks for the shout-out.

And I consider myself to be a 'Constitutional, pragmatic libertarian' except on 2 issues.
