Actually, I don't remember much about fighting with the British. The Taliban claim they're the legitimate government in Afghanistan. Apparently the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan flew off to another country. Maybe it's time the US stop backing corrupt corrupt foreign governments and regime change (ie like the Shah of Iran, South Vietnam, the Philippines, Cuba, Central America, the Panama Canal). Who cares who in charge in Afghanistan, I don't.

I say the United States needs to pull themselves right out of the “Middle East”. And when and if they killed themselves off in their continued forever wars so be it!!!!

Deflection, I don't think so. The topic was "how could anyone put the Taliban in charge"? If this is what those in Afghanistan are willing to die to support, how is it the business of this country (or those on OPP) tio object to that? We armed a group that supported a different form of gov't & they failed. So now our citizens are supposed to go & fight to prop up another gov't? I don't agree with this premise. If they don't want democracy, that's on them. It's not our place to police the world.
