StraightUp said, "I didn't ask if you had a say in the segregation, I asked if that was the America you want back."
I cannot want something back that I never experienced. Can you?

StraightUp: Obviously, you didn't read what I wrote, because I explained exactly what their rationale is and how political change can be viewed as a positive or a negative depending on what the observer thinks is a good thing or a bad thing. I was referring to politics in general, because despite your strong feelings that all liberals are stupid morons and all conservatives are smart and pure, *I* think the human nature that I am describing applies to both sides without prejudice.
I did read what you wrote and your response to me makes no sense whatsoever. A baby may THINK a bottle of bleach looks good to drink.......so because that is what she THINKS is a good thing, you would allow her to continue thinking that? Or would you do as I do, TRY to convince her that her truth isn't true, but is dangerous.

StraightUp: Are you having trouble grasping the concept of multiple, simultaneous views?
No, but I believe you may be having trouble grasping that views are not necessarily truths, and that you see no difference between a view and a fact. There are oceans between the two.

StraightUp: OK... My "self-interest" is to rid the nation of conservative morons. How's that fit ya? LOL
BINGO!

StraightUp:I didn't ask you to discuss racism, I just asked if you wanted that America back and you can't seem to give me an answer.
[color=red]C'mon! Surely you don't believe I am so stupid that I don't know a fish hook when it's tossed at me. LOL![color=red]

StraightUp:OK... hold it right there... "good intentions"? They *may* have destroyed the nation but "possibly with good intentions?" That's not the same thing as "joyously destroying the nation" Tasine.
I stand corrected. When I see people destroying America, regardless of their intentions, and PARTICULARLY when they show every indication of JOYOUSLY destroying it, I do everything in my power to stop them, to let people know what is happening. My problem is that there are entirely too many people in the world, including America, who choose politics over a good life and WILL NOT BE ADVISED of anything. They do immeasurable harm, are doing immeasurable harm, and I detest their thinking and their actions and the harm they are doing when nothing they do is necessary, but is a societal experiment that has already been played out numerous times.

This all started with you saying that the liberals (or whoever you're blaming) is destroying the nation you called home for 74 years. I said that 74 years ago black people were unfairly denied privilege implying that maybe those people who are destroying the America you remember are actually doing some good for others. All I got from you is that you personally didn't experience the unfairness to black people. That tells me a lot about you.

What I was saying is that what's good for some people may be bad for others. I was at a loss to understand why you're having such a hard time comprehending such a simple concept. But of course I forgot that YOU know what's good for everyone.

I'm talking about conflicting interests, Tasine. Oh, but of course any interest that YOU have a conflict with is based on false premises. I got it. Maybe our lawmakers should all consult you first... the oracle that knows what's best for everyone.

BINGO!

*sigh* totally missed the point.

C'mon! Surely you don't believe I am so stupid that I don't know a fish hook when it's tossed at me. LOL!

Is that your analogy for every question that challenges your views? A fish hook? You know what that means? You can't be educated.

And that's fine, if that is what you truly believe... but just because you see someone destroying the America YOU want, doesn't mean that they aren't actually making it a better place for a lot of others.

Trust me, I know the feeling. I'm sickened by many of these politicians, mostly on the right, who I think have done irreparable damage. But I have the added insight that you seem to be missing, that the damage is relative. For instance, I understand that the billions of dollars in debt that Bush dumped on us to fund that stupid war in Iraq has done serious damage to the economy that I depend on and THAT makes the damage relative to me (and many others). But on the other hand, that war has done wonders to improve the prospects for several corporations, so relative to Bush and those corporations, there is improvement.

My point is that Bush didn't go to war with Iraq to "destroy America", even though many, many smart people agree that to a large extent, it did.

We can apply this same concept to Obamacare, which I realize hasn't produced results yet so all the damage and improvement is at this point speculative. But some people think it will destroy America because... well... *sigh*... OK, I don't know how it's going to actually "destroy America", I guess the speculation is that it's going to turn us all into communists or something... or it's going to take away our liberties by forcing us to buy insurance, there we go... but for my brother, who suffers from Crohn's disease, it's a blessing because now he can actually GET insurance, where before no one would insure him because his Crohn's is a preexisiting condition and it's chronic. So for him it's an improvement.

See where I am going with this? It's called relativity.

Wrong! It's called idiocy. If in your wildest dreams believe that policies that destroy the economy, that policies that drive jobs out of the country, that policies that put health care in the hands of bureaucrats even might POSSIBLY BE GOOD FOR THE PUBLIC AND ITS NATION, THEN YOU ARE A CERTIFIABLE IDIOT.

You are totally not getting it. You just cannot hold a pure concept in your head without getting all uptight about your politics. I pity you.

I don't need or want any pity. I am firm. YOU seem to be the one floundering all over the place. I SHOULD feel sorry for you, but don't.

Yes, you are firm in your own selfish convictions... very good. Me... I AM all over the place because I have that capacity. Must seem bewildering to you.

Not silly particularly. It tells me you have more time to waste than I do. It tells me you aren't much of a serious person, ergo not worth a lot of my time. It tells me you are too highly educated (beyond your intelligence), and as ignorant as some of your profs are when it comes to living. That being the case, I bid you adieu.

LOL... Note to self:

"time to waste" = time spent considering alternate views that aren't conservative.
"not a serious person" = not seething about the liberals and their communist ploys.
"too highly educated" = resistant to right-wing brain washing.
