You are correct, and the associated costs fall heavily on those who do pay plus the administration costs of collection.
I have lived for a time in several western countries with universal health care and although no system is perfect what we have in the US is vulture capitalist medicine on steroids. If tiny countries like New Zealand and Taiwan can provide affordable health care to all citizens then what is perpetrated on the ordinary working American family is nothing short of a crime.

Thank you.

Evert body who pays- pays more to make up for those who don't When a 5 hour visit to a hospital becomes a $10000 bill something is out of hand.

I believe you just argued with your original claim.

If everybodys' hospital and doctor bills were paid Health care would cost less. The way it is now short falls must be made up.

Still unanswered, who is going to pay that which cannot be afforded and how will the level of care not be reduced? If a little tax increase will pay for universal health care then millions of uninsured will be included with that little tax increase. Good health care under a universal health policy is not attainable. Maybe we should tax China too?

the average person pays 440 a month for healthcare insurance according to ehealthinsurance.com there was about 138 million adults paying taxes in 2018 by getting rid of the insurance I would guess that the 138 million could pay a about half that amount for no deductible healthcare that is roughly 338 billion dollars a year. tha'ts a lot of money for healthcare. Is that enough for the all of the us in the USA I don't know but it is a starting point. and when big business adds to it I think it would be enough. any thoughts people out there?

the average person pays 440 a month for healthcare... (show quote)

"In 2017, U.S. health care costs were $3.5 trillion. That makes health care one of the country's largest industries. It equals 17.9% of gross domestic product. In comparison, health care cost $27.2 billion in 1960, just 5% of GDP. " $338 billion wouldn't begin to cover the cost.

Actually it can be done without costing any more than working people are already paying for healthcare. Americans are already spending huge money, it all applies toward actually paying for medicine and procedures.

If every body thinks like you then nothing will ever change. The very rich are paying lower taxes than ever while the poor are being kicked to the curb. What is the honor in that?

People are screaming " I won't pay for some one else's healthcare "! What is the big deal? We already have Universal healthcare. People with no insurance go to hospital emergency rooms--They get treatment and don't pay their bill. Guess who pays for this.

Exactly and waiting to go to an er is 10x's more expensive. People are kinda like cars, it takes more diligence and less money to maintain a car than to repair the broken part.

When the VA system works as it is supposed to, good medical treatment can follow. However, VA hospitals still have a way to go before the system can provide the excellent care our veterans so richly deserve, IMO. Eight years ago I sought treatment at a VA hospital in SC, thinking I had the flu. The VA doctors also thought I had the flu and treated me accordingly. When my condition continued to deteriorate, my daughter arrived from NV and observing my worsening condition, had me flown to a hospital in NJ where I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (thank you, Agent Orange). In addition, I had developed Stage III kidney disease due a misdiagnosis and erroneous treatment at the VA hospital. A great team of doctors and the Lord helped to save my life and I'm now eight years cancer free and very grateful. Four veterans had died in that same VA hospital that year due to alleged inferior medical care. Had my daughter not moved me out of that facility, I probably would have been number five!! One nurse even advised my daughter to move me before they killed me. Many recent positive changes in the VA system have been made under President Trump. Let's hope these improvements continue and our veterans receive the excellent care and treatment they deserve.

When the VA system works as it is supposed to, goo... (show quote)

My VA Dr doesn't seem to be up to date on much of anything which brings the reason I only get my blood work and meds and some x-rays .

Seems my Hemoglobin is high my VA Dr told me to cut back on eating meat !
Went to my civilian DR had him check it out and he said I needed to have some blood drawn off every three months so he sent me to a blood Dr and he is testing me to see what is causing it ti be high!

My VA Dr could care less as to why it was high maybe it's because she's a foreigner and more than likely could get a job anywhere else I've been requesting a change in Dr's but to no avail !

My cousin fell and tore the muscle just above the knee the VA was so slow in getting him in to see a real Dr that he was told an injury like that had to be done within two weeks and the VA just barely got him in on time !
