Thoughts for December 3, 2017

The end of the year is almost here, time to slip away to your hilltop retreat and examine the nuggets you have 'squirreled' away. Nuggets of memories, and events from this fast fading year, nuggets that have had an impact on your life. You pull the memories out, one by one. There are happy additions, and family gatherings, also sad losses. World changing events go somewhere in the background when you are concentrating on the day by day events that have deeply affected your life.

Your mind drifts to something you recently read, it was in a post that bdamage put on his blog. It posed a question that made me think back many years. It asked "is your faith as deep now as it was when you were a child?" You think back to the life changing events that accompanied your growth. Have they changed your faith? Have you stood on your faith to pull you through, lift you up when you were down, be grateful for the blessings you have received? If you answer "YES," then you know He has been the Rock of your childhood, and you say, "Thank You, Lord, Amen."

The Lord the Avenger of His People

A Psalm of David..
Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me;
Fight against those who fight against me.
Take hold of shield and buckler,
And stand up for my help.
Also draw out the spear,
And stop those who pursue me.
Say to my soul,
"I am your salvation."
Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor
Who seek after my life;
Let those be turned back and brought to confusion
Who plot my hurt.
Let them be like chaff before the wind,
And let the angel of the Lord chase them.
Let their way be dark and slippery,
And let the angel of the Lord pursue them.
For without cause they have hidden their net for me in a pit,
Which they have dug without cause for my life.
Let destruction come upon him unexpectedly,
And let his net that he has hidden catch himself;
Into that very destruction let him fall.
And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord;
It shall rejoice in His salvation.
All my bones shall say,
"Lord, who is like You,
Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him,
Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?"
Fierce witnesses rise up;
They ask me things that I do not know.
They reward me evil for good,
To the sorrow of my soul.
But as for me, when they were sick,
My clothing was sackcloth;
I humbled myself with fasting;
And my prayer would return to my own heart.
I paced about as though he were my friend or brother;
I bowed down heavily, as one who mourns for his mother.
But in my adversity they rejoiced
And gathered together;
Attackers gathered against me,
And I did not know it;
They tore at me and did not cease;
With ungodly mockers at feasts
They gnashed at me with their teeth.
Lord, how long will You look on?
Rescue me from their destructions,
My precious life from the lions.
I will give You thanks in the great assembly;
I will praise You among many people.
Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies;
Nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause.
For they do not speak peace,
But they devise deceitful matters
Against the quiet ones in the land.
They also opened their mouth wide against me,
And said, "Aha, aha!
Our eyes have seen it."
This You have seen, O Lord;
Do not keep silence.
O Lord, do not be far from me.
Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication,
To my cause, my God and my Lord.
Vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness;
And let them not rejoice over me.
Let them not say in their hearts, "Ah, so we would have it!"
Let them not say, "We have swallowed him up."
Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion
Who rejoice at my hurt;
Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor
Who exalt themselves against me.
Let them shout for joy and be glad,
Who favor my righteous cause;
And let them say continually,
"Let the Lord be magnified,
Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant."
And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness
And of Your praise all the day long.

Psalm 35:1-28
These are the words of David, King of Israel
This Psalm is dedicated to the Memory of Rachael Parker , 34th of 58 murdered in Las Vegas.
Rachael Parker worked as a records technician.
Rachael Parker was a 33-year-old records technician for the police department in Manhattan Beach, California. She also had eyes on higher education.
Parker earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Colorado State University in June 2016, Manhattan Beach Police Department said. She was in the process of applying to graduate school, police said.
She worked for nearly a decade at the front desk of the police station. Even in those stressful confines, she was known for her "cheerful and compassionate demeanor," police said.
"Rachael's smile could light up a room, even on the most difficult of days."
She had a particular passion for working with older adults. She completed her undergraduate practicum by working with Manhattan Beach's Older Adults Program.
She loved her two adopted dogs, Maddie and Izzy. She enjoyed baking, country music and Los Angeles Kings hockey, police said.
"Rachael, we love you and we miss you. Our hearts are breaking," police wrote. "Please keep Rachael's family and friends in your thoughts during this difficult time."
She was one of four off-duty Manhattan Beach police employees who attended the Vegas concert. She died at the hospital. Another police employee, a sworn officer, was shot and suffered minor injuries, the department said.
Eternal rest, grant unto our sister, Rachael Parker, and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace.
May her soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

"In the name of the Father,
And of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit,"
Amen!
I ask my fellow faithful countrymen to refrain from negative comments for 28 days, while this memorial is going on. Thank you. Please pray as you always have.

Evil works in the dark it's dastardly deeds to accomplish. Sadly, Rachael Parker was a victim of a person bent on his evil destruction of people enjoying themselves. We cannot understand his thinking, but we can pray for her family and friends. Only time, and help from the Lord, will bring healing for the scar her untimely death has brought into their lives.
We pray that the Lord comfort all of the victims and their families, in Jesus name, Amen.

Thoughts for December 5, 2017

This morning an east wind was gently blowing, it was rather warm, but experience tells me it will be just a matter of time before that wind changes from tepid to more crisp temperatures. Turn on the heat and pull out the winter coats, a change is in the air. We, who believe in the Lord's return, reflect on the change in people's hearts. We wonder about, and cannot understand mass killings, wanton destruction of other people's property, and evil actions in general. We wonder!

We read in Matthew 24:10-12 “And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.” We are aware that some churches have false prophets, and we hear about churches who follow Satan. With freedom, people can choose the wrong path, that is their right. Though it be their right, let us pray they see the Light.

With all the negative news, and evil events we read about, let us not give up hope, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Timothy a young disciple of Paul learned that well, and preached of a brighter tomorrow. He gave hope for the proverbial rainbow after the storm. 1 Timothy 4:10 " That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe." May the Lord keep the fires of faith burning in our hearts. Amen

Man's Wickedness and God's Perfections
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the Lord...
An oracle within my heart concerning the transgression of the wicked:
There is no fear of God before his eyes.
For he flatters himself in his own eyes,
When he finds out his iniquity and when he hates.
The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
He devises wickedness on his bed;
He sets himself in a way that is not good;
He does not abhor evil.
Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of iniquity have fallen;
They have been cast down and are not able to rise.

Psalm 36:1-12
These are the words of David, King of Israel
This Psalm is dedicated to the Memory of Jordan McIldoon , 35th of 58 murdered in Las Vegas.
Jordan McIldoon, 25, was visiting Las Vegas from British Columbia.
Jordan McIldoon, a 25-year-old from Maple Ridge, British Columbia, died holding the hand of a stranger at the concert.
Heather Gooze told CNN she somehow ended up next to McIldoon. Even though she didn't know him, she held his hand during his final minutes. She felt a squeeze from his fingers, then felt his hand go loose.
Gooze said she knew there was nothing more to do. Yet, she stayed with McIldoon for hours. When his phone rang, she answered it and learned his name and told the caller everything was not OK.
She relayed the news of his death to his long-term girlfriend and his mother, all the while staying by his side, she said.
"I didn't want Jordan to not have somebody with him," she told CNN through tears. "I didn't want him to just be a no-named body. I knew who he was, and now I had an obligation to make sure that everyone knew who he was."
McIldoon's mother told Gooze he was a good, nice and fun person.
"He loved his girlfriend and had great family and great friends," Gooze told CNN.
Eternal rest, grant unto our brother, Jordan McIldoon, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

I know I can never change the past.
I know I live in the present. Therefore, what ever is done in the present for Christ. Will become a witness in the past, and be our future!

If I can turn back the hands of time,
Lord Knows I would save all 60 people at Las Vegas.
But because I can't all I can do is pray for these victims and their families.

I have posted about 36 of them to date and to tell you, this is one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Did I know any of these souls who lost their lives that fateful day in October? Did I know any of the souls who lost their lives on 9/11 or in Bengahizi, let alone the Christians who were crusified in 2014? No. I did not.

But what I did know, is that all of these people were Christians. Some of these people were my brothers and sisters in both arms, and my country men and women.

Do you know what it feels like to be in a foreign country?
Do you know what it feels like to visit a nation that is not your home?

In my case I was in the Military.....First in Desert Storm, then Iraqi Freedom. I hold a metal for helping defend the Kuwaitis from Saddam Hussein. From 1991 to 1993, I hold my second medal for helping give humanitarian supplies to Haitian refugees who were escaping a dictatorship government in Haiti while stationed in Guantanamo Bay. I hold a Letter of Commendation from the Commander of the Atlantic Fleet for uploading six C-5 aircraft, done in seven days as well as a letter of appreciation for assisting in the humanitarian relief efforts of Hurricane Andrew as well as supporting soldiers/saliors in "sleigh rides" so they can get home for the holidays. I have a medal for the Navy Unit Commendation, and I hold a ribbon for Coast Guard SOS. But I would trade each of these medals if I could, to save just one life of 9/11, Benghazi, the crucified Christians of 2014, and the victims of terrorism from Boston and New York to the victims of Las Vegas.

The commandment states, "THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT MURDER!" this is the commandment, yet murder happens. Why? Jordan almost died alone in Vegas, but it was the courage of one Heather Gooze, who stayed with Jordan right up until the end. That deserves a medal greater than the medals, I hold.

There are some who believe life is cheap. There are still others that believe people should die. But in each of these beliefs I question why? Why must some die and yet others live? It seems that the Evil is winning. Evil is winning because so many good and innocent people are dying at the hands of Evil. Tried, tested, and true, the United States and its people are inherently a good people. Liberal or Conservative, Democrat or Republican, Male or Female, Black or white, Hispanic or Latin, Cherokee or Navajo, we are a good people. Although we have lost many, we have many that we did not lose that would risk their lives to "I didn't want Jordan to not have somebody with him," she told CNN through tears. "I didn't want him to just be a no-named body. I knew who he was, and now I had an obligation to make sure that everyone knew who he was."

God Bless you with the highest honor Heather, if you are reading this. But know this America, we will stand with you when evil brings death to your door. I know Death, and it hurts very much, but I also know Jesus. Jesus Conquered death so that we can live. And live we do. Jesus, please, help us to

"Let us love one another, and stamp out the evil among us."

Many people, are being charged with a variety of crimes. But so what about the charged crime. So what if we punish the guilty, because the guilty continue to commit the same crime! Look at 9/11. The Christians who were beheaded and crucified. What about those who died in Benghazi, and those in Charolettesville, what about those who died in the Hurricanes this past year, and then in Las Vegas and in New York?

We weep, then the killing continues. We must continue to pray, yes that is the truth. Continue to pray and never cease praying. But prayers like faith are dead, according to St Paul, if they are not backed up by deeds. We must make this world a safer place for our children, so they do not die at work or at play.

Of course we will fight among ourselves, we all think differently. But in order to succeed we must all get on the same page for the greater good of all. We all share this life. No one wants to live in terror, sadness or strife. No one wants to be depressed. Misery, depression, terror, sadness, and strife are words that describe the decades following 9/11, we must end this misery. Would you rather see our president, President Trump, who is hard at work making us prosperous and safe, mourning over the loss of one of his countrymen, or would you rather see the president stand in pride with his countrymen in succeeding for the Lord?

It is our Choice America. Which will you choose? Life or Death. I choose to Live for eternal life, how about you?

Jordan McIldoon and Heather Gooze did not know each other, but by grace she stayed beside this man in his last minutes. What a moving story, not only did she try comfort him to let him know he was not alone, but she found out who he was. He did not leave this world a John Doe. Thank You, Lord, for the care that one human being afford another. Amen

As long as people still weep over senseless acts of violence, there is hope for mankind. When we become so hardened to these scenes of destruction, then it is time to wonder where is the heart, the general feelings for our fellow human beings? May the Lord, open eyes, and soften hearts, so that we feel. Amen

Reflections for December 6, 2017

Yesterday, we went to a luncheon at Rugby, TN, just a dot on the map, off the main highway. It was like being in a different place at a different time, a time long gone. On the way there, I saw an old weather-beaten house almost completely hidden by bare, forlorn trees. It made me wonder about the family that built it, raised a family there, and eked out a living on the poor soil. At one time children laughed and played inside those walls, and romped through the woods. At one time it was alive with a family.

Many of us could relate to that old house. We've traveled a countless number of miles, some were pretty rough roads, and some paved highways. The rough roads included the heartbreak of loss, and illness, but also the joys of accomplishments, and additions to the family. Our children grew up playing, and fighting, but always loving each other. Job opportunities, and moves came our way. Always changes, always moving forward in time. Now we've reached the time to reflect, to appreciate the long trek through the forest of time.

From as far back as I can remember, through all the hills and valleys of life, my Rock has been my faith in the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. That too, has been like an old house, a house built on a firm foundation, built with rock and mortar, and tuck pointing for maintenance. It has weathered changes, additions, and upgrades, but always the basic house has stood the test of time. It has been my home, my strength to face the world and forge onward. Thank You, Dear Lord, for always being there, and may He be there for you as well. Amen

After this month, I will be leaving OPP. Other commitments have come up that I feel a necessity to devote my time to. It's been an enjoyable ride, but it is time for me to move on. My prayers and love goes out to all of you, thank you for being 'My Buddy.'

Remember these people as a group of people who were enjoying life, and became saints.

The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit;
He has ceased to be wise and to do good.
He devises wickedness on his bed;
He sets himself in a way that is not good;
He does not abhor evil.
Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Your righteousness is like the great mountains;
Your judgments are a great deep;
O Lord, You preserve man and beast.
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house,
And You give them drink from the river of Your pleasures.
For with You is the fountain of life;
In Your light we see light.
Oh, continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,
And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
Let not the foot of pride come against me,
And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There the workers of iniquity have fallen;

Amen.

"In the name of the Father,
And of the Son,
And of the Holy Spirit,"
Amen!
I ask my fellow faithful countrymen to refrain from negative comments for 25 days, while this memorial is going on. Thank you. Please pray as you always have.

Jordan McIldoon and Heather Gooze did not know each other, but by grace she stayed beside this man in his last minutes. What a moving story, not only did she try comfort him to let him know he was not alone, but she found out who he was. He did not leave this world a John Doe. Thank You, Lord, for the care that one human being afford another. Amen
