Mike,

I've ignored this ugly, dishonest, deceitful post for about a week now, and it is time, once again to refute the lies you feel free to repeatedly reel off about me, bearing false witness, with no semblance of truth.

Jesus used the written Scriptures as His weapon of choice to refute Satan, and to rebuke Jerusalem's self important, pious Pharisees and Saducees who followed their own manmade rules rather than God's Words.

Any scripture references you have "given" me, you have misrepresented in meaning, trying to twist to support your revisionist history of Christianity.

I have read the Bible regularly since the age of eight, and you've yet to display any accurate understanding of it, as it is written.

Your contemptuous phrase accusing me of "using the Bible, to which you have repeatedly referred as a "paper pope," as a club, belittles only you.

(Ephesians 6:17) "Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

The sword is one of the pieces of spiritual armor Paul tells the Ephesian Christians to put on as part of the “full armor of God” that will enable us to stand our ground against evil (Ephesians 6:13).

The sword is both an offensive and defensive weapon used by soldiers or warriors.
In this case it is a weapon belonging to the Holy Spirit. Swords were used to protect oneself from harm or to attack the enemy to overcome or kill him. All Christian soldiers need to properly handle the Sword of the Spirit, “which is the word of God.”

The sword that Paul refers to is the Holy Scriptures. We know from 2nd Timothy 3:16–17 that the word of God is from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and relayed through Him to the Prophets and Apostles who recorded it.

Because every Christian is in a spiritual battle against the satanic and evil forces of this world, we need to handle the Word continually. Only then is it an effective defense against evil, but it is also an offensive weapon we use to “demolish strongholds” of error and falsehood (2nd Corinthians 10:4–5).

To ridicule it as a "paper pope," demeans the God who chose to reveal Himself and His purpose to men through it.

I refuse to follow your example of using Holy Scripture as a club. That is not its purpose. You are incapable of using it to refute error because you already use it to support error. Besides, you believe far too many errors accumulated by being led into false interpretation through the spirit that guides you. Long ago I gave you scripture references in a discussion we were having and you just blew them off without answering because they contradicted your false interpretations. You have done the same thing with historical evidence I have quoted. In Truth, if Jesus Himself were to appear before you and tell you the celebration of the Holy Eucharist was His command you'd deny it because that's not how you interpret scripture. So why should I bother engaging you when I know most all your answers are wrong? You're an authority of error yet you've got a following of people who believe you truly know Christ because you can machine gun snippets of scripture. Balderdash! Satan knows scripture better. What they don't know is you're grievously and hopelessly in error all the while thinking that you're always right. You inadvertently lead people away from the living Christ and the Living Word with your paper pope and you leach out worship and joy in doing so. Little wonder you prefer a barn.

I'm not "schooled" by the Holy Spirit but I am led by Him and I don't use Him as do the Gnostics who claim He gives them special knowledge and interpretation of scripture. You know what I mean. I have a distinct advantage over you inasmuch as the one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church has enjoyed the indwelling of the Holy Spirit's Truth since Pentecost and therefore a constancy of faith and practice not found in Protestantism. The other advantage I hold is that I'm not allowed to interpret Holy Scripture apart from how the Church has always been led to understand them. I am, however, allowed to be inspired by scripture in a thousand different ways.

I continue to believe there are serious concerns all Christians need to place their efforts towards than the piddly ass crap you constantly present such as the worship in barns instead of beautiful churches and Lenten disciplines and the rest of the nonsense that grabs your attention. But you're free to chose where to put your efforts.

Amen and Amen excellent come back and oh so true as well. If those others that padremike listed that the Eastern Orthodox church hold so highly were to be followed would it not be so that there works would have been included in the scriptures. Since they were not included there must be a reason that our founding fathers decided that they were not up to divine revelation by or from the Holy Spirit and thus not suitable for canon.

Thank you, bahmer,

I'n pretty sure God didn't have to agonize over what He did or did not consider to be His Holy Word (His manuel of information and instructions) to mankind, nor did He expect it to be ridiculed and dismissed as a "paper pope."
