Larry the Legend Loc: Not hiding in Milton

There were several main points in the President's speech that are worth noting:

"A booming economy can continue to lift up all working people."
Yes, even the ones you think he doesn't like.

"Congress should champion a safe, legal immigration system."
Emphasis on legal. Those who break our laws do not deserve to be here.

"We can invest in real infrastructure that leaves no community behind."
Not even the ones that have been allowing their systems to collapse for decades.

"New trade deals will ensure that no country exploits our workers."
All of them.

"Washington must rein in the outrageous price of prescription drugs."
I like the idea of the government getting out of the healthcare business entirely but, yeah, whatever.

"America will rebuild its military while ending the cycle of endless wars."
Imagine a foreign policy that doesn't require hundreds of bases all over the world.

"We must support working parents and protect the gift of life."
Putting the family first. What a novel idea in this age of abortion on demand.

"From criminal justice reform to opioids, let’s embrace bipartisan success."
What are the chances that Congressional Democrats are going to take a serious look at either of those line items, considering their source? Resist! Resist!

"Both parties can be guided by a shared vision of American greatness."
Again, they can, but they won't see it. They're too busy screaming "Resist! Resist!"

I can agree with most all of that.

🇺🇸 God bless America and President Trump.

The SOTU was, with only a couple of hyperbolic statements (Trump's comment about war with N Korea had he not been elected, though perhaps true was still a gaff) was one for the ages. One interesting comparison between President Trump and President Obama in their first SOTU was how many times the words "I" and "me" were used. https://www.westernjournal.com/heres-many-times-trump-said-first-sotu-address-compare-obamas/ If DJT is an egomaniac, what word would you use to describe BHO? Probably need to invent one.

I'd start with 'narcissist' and go downhill from there.

I didn't listen to any of the Muslim Socialist SOTU lies. After 8 months he was in office he showed his hate for America then. He should have been impeached before two years of his crooked adiministration ended.

🇺🇸 God bless America and President Trump.

Actually the takeaway that was most telling was Trump's warning to the Democrats to stop investigating him and his family or there will be no further legislation. King Donald has spoken.

In this age of rapid deployment of troops and missiles being able to 'reach out & touch someone' I question why we need overseas bases. Just put the word out as to what will happen if you cross the line.

No, actually, since we're talking about takeaways that have not been previously enumerated, I would add that socialism is a bad idea and will not be tolerated. NOW King Donald has spoken and the Democrats are royally pissed!

Ask all the Scandinavian countries how bad an idea socialism is—the happiest countries on the planet.

Really? I'd love to see the source of that little ditty!

Here's some truth for your disappointment:

If you did, you'd be asking the wrong people...

As the article states, they are social democracies - which is different from democratic socialism.

Socialism. Debunked since inception and still refusing to die. Point to Zimbabwe, the Soviet Union, Venezuela, any of the poor, unfortunate collections of people who have tried it and you'll see a pattern but they still refuse to give it up as a bad investment. Just what does it take?
