Sessions is pro civilian forfeiture, a clear violation of Eighth Amendment rights. SCOTUS is hearing that case now. Civilian forfeiture in many states means having all assets taken by local authorities on simple suspicion, and, whether guilty or innocent, keeping those assets without due process. Like that? WAKE UP!

Damn! Don't know how that response relates to my comments, but again, as usual, we differ in opinions. While I have to admit there is some anecdotal evidence that law enforcement and the courts have stretched the forfeiture laws, it is still an effective tool to deter criminal activity.

Your statement that the forfeiture laws are applied on "simple suspicion" are downright dishonest. You need to read the laws on "Civil Asset Forfeiture" and "Adoptive Forfeiture". In a state Civil Asset Forfeiture case, where the burden on the prosecution is the least, the government only has the burden to prove that it is more likely than not that an individual’s assets were used to facilitate a federal crime or were the proceeds of a federal crime — a substantially easier standard of proof to meet, but certainly stronger than "simple suspicion" as you state.

What you must realize is that, if a person is living his life in an upright and lawful way, he has little to fear from any government. If you live in a $1M house, own a few high-dollar cars, and party every night, with no obvious source of income, .... yes the police may take your stuff.

Since I live my life completely above board, as do millions of others in the USA, I don't fear the police, but I do fear the criminals. If the government takes the all of those criminals' ill begotten stuff, I don't give a damn!
