I have to disagree with you. In the past I never worried about the country, I knew it would recover from the policy changes of right and left. Now we have a corrupt egomaniac who seems intent on dismantling the government, destroying relations with allies, aligning with despots, and doing exactly what putin has always wanted, separate all alliances that other countries enjoy.

Spoken like a true far leftwing progressive. The problem you have is the early results of Trump's actions is there are now more jobs available than people to fill them. Anyone wanting work and has the minimal education can get one. The school dropouts are in a different category of their own choosing. Every day people make decisions some of which have consequences down the road. Dropping out of school is a major one.

Ole Granny used to say, "Sometimes you gotta shovel a lotta shit to find the pony."

Maybe we found the pony.

The only answer to the problem is for real true American patriots every where to put party agenda aside and return to the original principles that our forefathers founded this great nation on or we will become just another socialist third world country.

Semper Fi brother's and sister's and all true American patriots every where long may old glory fly over the land of the free and home of the brave foreve amen and amen.

Great idea ICE can just deport all the illegal criminal aliens in America to Californian and pray it will break off and drown all the Socialist Demon-Rat swamp dwelling traitors and there illegal criminal aliens.

So, Obama brought the numbers down six points, but this last one point under trump makes all the difference, even though it is following a trend started by Obama.

I agree with this post. I remember references to political alliances (Tories v. Whigs) going back to our founding years. Seems to me the difference is that the common interest of the country was foremost. Another difference is that we didn't have career politicians then. The intent was to serve a term or maybe two and then return home to their regular jobs.

That was so true. The politicians of that era were ordinary people and wanted to help the country and then go home to their prior lives.

I disagree about decisions not really mattering. Trump has done acts which will speed global warming, perhaps pushing the world beyond the tipping point. His fiscal actions will perhaps fatally damage the economy.

It is really depressing watching the constant battle between Republicans and Democrats, liberals vs. conservatives and so on. If that isn't bad enough, there are factions within the above categories, providing more chaos, mayhem and confusion. What are they fighting about anyway?

Everyone should realize that there WILL be a shift in the Congress, since there always is, and all should realize that there will be a new President eventually, providing another shift. Based on current history, the entire agenda of the new regime will be focused on undoing every single thing the last regime did, fought every step of the way by the losing side. Which ever side is in charge when all the judges die off, will be able to stack the courts with their own toadies. Until recently, I was unaware that there were two Constitutions, one for liberals and one for conservatives. Do we get to choose which laws we have to obey?

We here all the time the phrase " the direction the country is heading " and the like, but it's easy to see that the country isn't heading in ANY direction, it's just swinging back and forth, which means - it isn't going anywhere. Ever seen one of those old clocks with the pendulum? No one ever reported their clock malfunctioned, because the pendulum moved to the other side of the room. No, they just swing from one side to the other.

Regardless of what happens in the midterms, or two years later in the next Presidential elections, we're going to be screwed either way. Either Democrats or Republicans will rule the Congress, and we'll either have Trump or a Democrat sitting on the throne................and the same useless, chaotic, damaging crap will continue...................just like it has for the last century. The losers will continue to undermine the winners, just like Republicans did under Obama and Democrats are doing now. The new winners will spend most of their time undoing what the previous winners did.

In short, nobody really wins, at least - not for long. There are some Republicans that will never accept anything accomplished by a Democrat and visa versa, even when it's some damn good stuff, it's the principle and all that crap. What we can count on however, is that we the people will lose....................just like we've always lost....................for over a century. I'm wondering when ( maybe I should say "if" ) the American people are going to get tired of this never ending circus. America did just fine during it's first 50 years or so.......................without a single Democrat or Republican..................so we know it CAN be done..................but only when we want to.
It is really depressing watching the constant batt... (show quote)

A look at history and it can clearly be seen that the seeds of civil war were in place from the outset and was inevitable. It was just a matter of time. Over 600,000 Americans died for nothing. By 1877 things were the same as before except Africans were no longer slaves but share croppers and just as poor or maybe poorer than before. The land owner took the biggest share and left only bare subsistence for the cropper. Things came to a head again in the 1960's civil rights movement just 90 years later. Out of the cultural chaos the liberals got the blame and a conservative backlash was the result --the nations is still feeling the affect.

Well we like it and believe in good government. We have some problems who doesn't have problems. Our biggest problem in the bay area is too much success. So many jobe have been created in the last 8 years that the demand for housing has driven home prices and rent through the roof and created a traffic nightmare and there is no let up so far 6.800 more jobs were created in May. But there is a shortage of skilled labor. The big developers conspired In the 1970's to destroy the unions and succeeded in residential development. The unions used to run apprentice programs but there hasn't been a house built with union labor in California in over 25 years and no body to train apprentices. Housing is not being built fast enough to house the new job holders and they have to commute from long distances to find affordable housing. It helps that a lot of conservatives are moving out but I wish the rest of them would hurry up it would be helpful

You must watch too much faux snoose channel the 24/7 Obama bashing channel. There is no good reason for you abnormal vitriol. Obama's approval rate is 60 % and on the all time best president polls ranks 13th to 18th depending on the poll. So you seem to be in a distinct minority since your messiah is pulling 41 % approval and 51 % disapproval. He has come up little but that will be only temporary . When he gets hung out to dry he will drop to his hard core 30 % or so

I only have an occasional glass of red at dinner. During Reconstruction the Government put Republican governors in charge of the confederate states but within a dozen years Democrats had regained control by 1876. The end of re construction gave rise to the term " New South " It reflected the souths development of a new system of race relations based on segregation and white supremacy with an obligation to keep alive the memory of the souths glory with battlefield cemeteries and monuments and the rise of Jim Crow. The condition of farmers both black and white deteriorated sharply 1875 and 1900. while cotton production soared the price plummeted. Shrinking profits forced many southern farmers to forfeit title to their land and become share croppers. some rented land for a set fee which left them free to grow whatever they wanted. But most tenant farmers resorted to share to the share cropping system, whereby they received the right to farm for a share of the crop generally have the harvest. By 1900 70 percent of the souths farmers, white and black earned their living in this manner. My parents were married in 1932 at the depths of the Great depression. Being landless peasants they became share croppers and went broke every year for the next ten years. Black leaders I the 1890's were divided on how to oppose segregation.

Booker T Washington argued their efforts were doomed for lack of political and economic power and just focus on self improvement. W. E. Dubois rejected this policy and insisted African Americans keep up a sustained legal and political effort to end segregation. Ultimately Dubois and NAACP attorneys vision won out when in Brown vs Board of Education in 1954 when the Supreme court rejected the concept separate but equal

Must have been a right winger that wrote the article. San Francisco has world class restaurants Theaters. The World Champion Golden State Warriors will be moving from Oakland to a brand new basketball arena on the waterfront in 2019. The baseball SF Giants sell out their stadium for ball games.

The economy has been on a path of recovery moving in to the ninth year. I haven't seen anything Trump has done to change the trajectory. All that guy does is brag, lie, exaggerate,
