My wife hates the way I vacuum the carpet because I don't make the lines perfectly straight.
Then she goes out, and mows the lawn with the lines all higgeldy piggeldy.
The carpet is clean, the grass is mowed, it all looks great from a helicopter.
So, who is right?

One thing is for sure, the helicopter pilot should be pleased. However that doesn't answer your question. I was told several times that the wife is always right. I didn't believe it then and don't believe it now. I was also told that husbands were always wrong which I can't believe. My thoughts now? Being a widower I don't give a damn.

Solutions; hire a maid to vacuum your carpet and a gardener to mow your yard. Problem solved and there will be peace in your family again.

Both of you, and neither of you. Straight lines in the carpet is an absurd idea, several hours later who can tell? And the grass will even out as it grows, so don't get your undies in a knot. Instead, mow and vacuum well enough that it doesn't look too bad and spend the extra time taking a walk together, or sitting on the porch talking about life and the good times.
You will feel better, and smile more.

We can't afford that. But you made me think. Thinking outside of the box is one of my strong suits.
I I'll have to think on this a little more.

Actually, we do. We laugh at ourselves, and each other over this silly stuff.
It makes life fun!
Why can't everybody just get over themselves, and enjoy what they have to work with?

Buy a Rumba to do the floors and while it works, sit on the porch with your favorite beverage and give your wife directions..... that may end you up in the dog house or worse. How about switching jobs, she vacuum and you mow? Then neither can complain about how it is done...... no divorce and you get your mow lines, which if I must say is a big issue for me.... I like the yard looking like a baseball field and actually mow twice a week. I do not have wall to wall carpet and the rugs, well you can not see vacuum lines, so no issue there. I hate wall to wall carpet, for some odd reason I always think they harbor dust mites and bugs. A few years before Mother passed, she had every room (to include her bath) carpeted. After her death and a respectful time (about a week) I had it all ripped out and the hardwood floors restored.

I had a rumba but the mastiffs killed it, picked it up and threw it down the stairs. Guess they thought it was a Martian invader and dangerous.
