In my seven decades, I have seen and experienced more bizarre propositions than you can imagine. I've lived through at least 3 certain end-of-the-world predictions, and have seen a whole host of "antichrists". It amuses me to see car bumper stickers announcing, "If this car is suddenly empty, I have been raptured." The ever popular "Gog and Magog" entities have changed twice during my lifetime, and I assume they will change again as political winds blow.
Maybe it would have been best to leave the bible in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin so that only qualified scholars had access to it, rather than every Tom, Dick and Harriet, who think 2500 years of biblical scholars have missed the most important stuff.

So have I, but, I really don't believe in keeping things from people or keeping them ignorant. Keeping secrets led to our country and the world being in the mess it is now. Just pay your taxes and trust us (the elite) to tell you what you need to know when we decide, is not a model I want to live under. It's not even supported by our Constitution or Bill of Rights or the Bible. I wish I did know those three languages but it would probably only increase my thirst for knowing more. Sorry, you don't feel the same and are tired of being curious and learning new things. This world is a constant wonder to me. Just because there are charlatans, con artist, fake faith healers, doesn't dent my personal faith at all. Monsanto causes cancer and so did cigarettes. The tobacco companies kept it secret for years before they were outed. Monsanto is going through the same thing today and soon it will be outlawed. Would you rather not know you and your loved ones were being slowly poisoned? Ignorance isn't bliss, it can be lethal. I remember getting really mad for the first time in my life. I must have been 4 or 5. Know what it was? I found out my parents lied to me about Santa Claus, the people I loved and trusted had lied to me on purpose. I'm 63 and I haven't forgotten it. I forgave but I didn't forget. Yeah, I still want to know the truth whenever possible.

Don’t get me wrong! I am an avid collector of “new things”. But crazy ass pseudo religious nuts who presume to know more than what 2500 years of study has taught scholars don’t even interest me anymore.
I have a problem with the current bashing of “elitists”. We elected an anti-elitist president and look what a mess we’re in
I had an experience like yours, vis-a-vis Santa Claus and the Easter bunny. But I didn’t get mad at the lie, only profound yet temporary disappointment.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”

They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. 2 Peter 3:3-10
