So how can supporters have any credibility if they can't at least say "so what?", as opposed to fake news, deep state is making this all up.

When you deny the things about Trump that were well covered in the media for at least a decade, and refuse to acknowledge that the guy is at the least "unsavory", you have no credibility for anything else you say as far as current events. Defend your president, but at least have the honor and decency to acknowledge what he is, it's a step toward not representing an entirely alternate universe where Trump is a decent and honorable man, that he is not.
