I am an evangelical Christian, crazylibertarian, thank you for asking.
Contrary to your claim, I have distorted nothing.
Christianity is Christ; Not a Building, a Denomination, or an Institution! If Jesus Christ were not alive there would be no Christian faith because He is all that it offers. Christianity is not an impersonal religion but a personal relationship with the Living God who will never again die.
Evangelicalism, i.e., evangelical Christianity, is the 2,000 year old worldwide, cross-denominational Christianity which maintains the original belief that the essence of the Gospel consists of the doctrine of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ's atonement, exactly as written and taught in the Holy Scriptures of the Bible's New Testament.
The term Christian means "follower of Christ." Christian is the term given to followers of Jesus Christ in the first century A.D. (Acts 11:26). The term evangelical translates from the Greek word that means "good news." Evangelism is sharing the good news (gospel) of the salvation that is available through Jesus Christ. An evangelical is a Christian dedicated to proclaiming the "good news" of Jesus Christ.
An "evangelical Christian," therefore, is a believer and follower of Jesus Christ who faithfully shares and promotes the "good news," i.e., His gospel of Salvation as Jesus commanded we do; His Salvation which is available to all individuals who will believe and accept God's gift, as it is offered in Holy Scripture.
Evangelical Christians should never be sidetracked into abandoning our highest calling, that of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, as it is written.
Roman Catholic practitioners have been deprived by their church, of the assurance of salvation that God's word promises them, and are prey to the greedy doctrines of the purchase of prayers for their loved ones, after death, to remove them from "purgatory," and of indulgences to reduce their time in purgatory by days, or weeks... to release their loved ones souls to heaven. God has said in Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, lest any man should boast."
Below are the Historical Dates on which Catholic Popes used insidious Paganism to invade Christianity through Roman Catholicism. The Apostle Peter warned of these greedy false leaders who would arise among you: "Many will follow in their depravity, and because of them the way of the truth will be defamed. In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed."(2nd Peter 2:2-3)
All of the following unbiblical, pagan Roman Catholic teachings and practices endorsed by ungodly Popes are to be found detailed and endorsed in either, and sometimes both of the official Roman Catholic publications: The Catholic Encyclopedia, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Included are the dates by which they were officially adopted by Catholic councils and/or proclaimed "dogmas of faith" by the Pope of that date.
None of these practices were ever commanded by God as they are not even mentioned in His Holy Word. They are men's traditions, and have all been traced back to pre-Christian pagan religions; thus, they are formed from power hungry men's religious rebellions against God, in combination with a false interpretation of God's revelation in His Holy Word, all assimilated into Roman Catholicism, creating the unholy "mixture," or "strange fire upon the altar" in worship, that God says He abhors:

As you can clearly see, crazylibertarian, empowered or not, a great many of your Popes did change, erase or add to the Words of Scripture. That is historically undeniable.
Throughout God's word, the Holy Canon of Scripture, adding anything to, or taking anything away from what God has said is absolutely condemned:
Deuteronomy 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I am commanding you, nor take away from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you."
Deuteronomy 12:32 "Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; you shall not add to nor take away from it."
Proverbs 30:6 "Do not add to His words Lest He reprove you, and you be proved a liar."
Isaiah 66:4 "So I will choose their punishments, And I will bring on them what they dread. Because I called, but no one answered; I spoke, but they did not listen. And they did evil in My sight, And chose that in which I did not delight."
Matthew 15:8-9 "This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. But in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men."
Revelation 22:16,18-19: "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."
"I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book."

Congratulations on your terrific ability to distort. I will not rebut your entire posting item by item but will respond that no pope has ever been empowered to deny the words of the Bible. That is a gratuitous insult to the Catholic faith.
I did not divide Christians into Catholic & anti-Catholic.
I have no problem with singing and sermons. I stated that I do miss the actual ceremony of the mass. I am entitled to that. And I never stated anything about any service I have not witnessed.
Have you never seen the billboards with the pictures of the pastor & spouse? That verges, often, on a cult. We had, in NYC one who said on the radio.
"Send me a fin & I'll get you in." Tell me what you call that.
What church do you go to?
Congratulations on your terrific ability to distor... (
