We tried warning you that Obamacare would do that, but did you listen? No, you did not.

The U.S. health care system has been subject to heated debate over the past decade, but one thing that has remained consistent is the level of performance, which has been ranked as the worst among industrialized nations for the fifth time, according to the 2014 Commonwealth Fund survey 2014. The U.K. ranked best with Switzerland following a close second.

The Commonwealth Fund report compares the U.S. with 10 other nations: France, Australia, Germany, Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the U.K. were all judged to be superior based on various factors. These include quality of care, access to doctors and equity throughout the country. Results of the study rely on data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the World Health Organization and interviews from physicians and patients.

Although the U.S. has the most expensive health care system in the world, the nation ranks lowest in terms of “efficiency, equity and outcomes,” according to the report. One of the most piercing revelations is that the high rate of expenditure for insurance is not commensurate to the satisfaction of patients or quality of service. High out-of-pocket costs and gaps in coverage “undermine efforts in the U.S. to improve care coordination,” the report summarized.

A striking take-home from the report was a need for equity throughout the nation. “Disparities in access to services signal the need to expand insurance to cover the uninsured and to ensure that all Americans have an accessible medical home,” it said. A lack of universal health care was noted as the key difference between the U.S. and the other industrial nations.

Despite these shortcomings, positives noted include the breadth of reforms spearheaded by the Affordable Care Act, including new databases for transparent information and financial assistance for low-middle-income families in gaining coverage. “Those efforts will likely help clinicians deliver more effective and efficient care,” the report concludes.

The ACA did nothing to make health CARE more affordable. All the ACA did was subsidize the private, for profit health INSURANCE corporations that were already extracting $600 BILLION annually from the US health CARE system which pays for NO ONES' health CARE.

The UK's health CARE system is socialized health CARE where the doctors and medical personnel work for the government and hospitals are government owned and operated. Just like the VA health CARE system in the US.

A Medicare for All system (single payer), that incorporates Medicaid's funding and the VA's funding (abolishing both Medicare and the VA), and covering every man, woman, and child US citizen would save 95% of taxpayers money by eliminating their ridiculously high premiums and deductibles of the private, for profit health INSURANCE bloodsuckers. The doctors and medical personnel would still be in private practices and the hospitals would still be privately owned.

The federal government (taxpayers) already fund 65% of the US health CARE system covering the elderly, disabled, veterans and the poor. Why is this? Because those groups are not profitable to the private, for profit health INSURANCE corporations. Without subsidies they only want to insure healthy people they can profit from.

The ACA enlarged the tent for people to actually GET Healthcare, did away the Pre-Existing Condition loophole that only benefited Insurers, and enabled parents to keep their student offspring on their umbrella family policy until they turn 26. The rest of your post I agree with.

e poor

All the ACA did was mandate eveery one buy health INSURANCE coverage and subsidize premiums for the poor and those with pre-existing health issues.

Health CARE and health INSURANCE are not the same thing. Many people with high deductibles and co-pays STILL cannot afford health CARE.

A single payer, Medicare for All system would eliminate ALL the aspects of unaffordable health CARE and unaffordable health INSURANCE premiums and INSURE that every man, woman and child US citizen would have access to quality health CARE.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking I am a fan of ACA. I was not because in my opinion it did not go far enough and Obama made the rookie mistake of thinking he could accept a ride across the river on the back of the big Pharma/ Insurance crocodile and not get eaten but ask anybody who benefitted from it if they want to give it up, including students and those with preexisting conditions.

As I said I totally agree with the latter part of your original and this post.
