http://time.com/2888403/u-s-health-care-ranked-worst-in-the-developed-world/

The U.S. health care system has been subject to heated debate over the past decade, but one thing that has remained consistent is the level of performance, which has been ranked as the worst among industrialized nations for the fifth time, according to the 2014 Commonwealth Fund survey 2014. The U.K. ranked best with Switzerland following a close second.

The Commonwealth Fund report compares the U.S. with 10 other nations: France, Australia, Germany, Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the U.K. were all judged to be superior based on various factors. These include quality of care, access to doctors and equity throughout the country. Results of the study rely on data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the World Health Organization and interviews from physicians and patients.

Although the U.S. has the most expensive health care system in the world, the nation ranks lowest in terms of “efficiency, equity and outcomes,” according to the report. One of the most piercing revelations is that the high rate of expenditure for insurance is not commensurate to the satisfaction of patients or quality of service. High out-of-pocket costs and gaps in coverage “undermine efforts in the U.S. to improve care coordination,” the report summarized.

A striking take-home from the report was a need for equity throughout the nation. “Disparities in access to services signal the need to expand insurance to cover the uninsured and to ensure that all Americans have an accessible medical home,” it said. A lack of universal health care was noted as the key difference between the U.S. and the other industrial nations.

Despite these shortcomings, positives noted include the breadth of reforms spearheaded by the Affordable Care Act, including new databases for transparent information and financial assistance for low-middle-income families in gaining coverage. “Those efforts will likely help clinicians deliver more effective and efficient care,” the report concludes.

Time is fake news, nobody on the right hears this.

I have a friend who has a dual citizenship in Canada, he goes to Canada for surgeries and procedures.

The right has a litany of how bad Canada is rhetoric and stories.

My daughter is in England and the prenatal care she received is far better than here. And they give a superior level of healthcare to everyone including homeless people, it costs a fraction of what ours costs not covering everyone.

It's hard to understand how people can't make simple connections to the numbers when our system is hideously expensive and not the best in the world.

And no I don't want to live in another country, I want this system fixed and the for profit angle put in check.

Health care is an item of infinite demand. What that means is that no matter the cost we will still seek the product. That's why universal health care or a single payer system is the only way to deliver a quality product and not have it bankrupt you for a toothache...

Wrong! Most of the riches people from other countries, Canada, England, Saudi Arabia, and other countries where people could afford to pay excellent medical doctors and modern equipment facilities all come to the US for medical care.

The illegals made our medical care look like 3rd world. There are so many pregnant Mexican women delivering babies free, paid for by US taxpayers.

Too broad a statement and not supported by the facts regardless of what Focks News says.
The reason Healthcare in the US is so expensive is because it is controlled by the For Profit Health Insurance Mafia, not the illegals.
I have lived at different times in Australia, New Zealand, UK and Switzerland and the profound difference between those countries and the US is how you are treated in the ER. In those countries the focus is on you as a patient and your immediate medical needs. In the US the focus is on determining whether or not you have Insurance and filling out cumbersome forms. In those countries Healthcare is treated as a basic citizens right just like police and fire protection and civil defense. In the US Healthcare is just another industry out to fleece it’s “subscribers” for whatever the traffic will bear.
America has some of the most advanced medical technology in the world but too much of it is only available to those who can pay for it.
Marie Antoinette would be proud of the US Healthcare system.

Correct, and the answer is tantalizingly close since we already have a broad network in place that could be expanded to offer a good basic program that could cover both catastrophic and palliative long term care for anybody at a very low cost since the cumbersome administrative costs would be dramatically reduced.
It is called Medicare.

So a verifiable statement like this is “Communist” and the people who read it are “stupid”? So I guess you are happy with your American Healthcare and you have no problems with access. You don’t say exactly what “shithole socialist country” you are from. Care to enlighten us?

I may have misread it. May I assume then that you do not rank the UK health service as superior ?
