What city in Texas are you near? I was looking at all of the trout stocking in Texas and you might enjoy that type of fishing. There is also large mouthed Bass, Small mouthed bass, and Walleye in texas. You are much to young to not enjoy all that Texas has to offer. Even a dastardly Marine could have a blast down there.

My wife and I fish, but mostly in good weather. We live right off the shores of Lake Whitney, just about 30 miles NW (as the bird flies) of Waco, Texas. It is known for its striped bass primarily, but has plenty of other, to include all you listed short of walleye and trout. We have a 16' pontoon fishing boat.
