Marines are jealous of the other branches of military

They never recover from all that yelling in their ears.

I was about to be drafted and being a ground pounder didn't look all that appealing even though I was top rated shooter if a rife or shotgun !

I did qualify expert on the M-16 .

I could get drafted for 2 yrs or take the Navy or Air Force for 4 yr tour so I chose the USAF if I were to be shot at I want it to be done while i was in the air !

My hat is off to the Marines as they are the first to go in and I'm proud of my service keeping the Jet engines in the F-100's and B-57 bombers in the air supporting the ground troops !

Actually I was face to face with death 3 times first time was on Jan 26th 1969 we were working in one set of revetments 2am with flood lights shining brightly when we came under attack there were a bunch of us running for our lives and luckily no one got hurt . We were hit with a whole bunch of Rockets and mortars

We lost two F-100's and 11 damaged and remember it to this day , but the only thing I can't remember is what it was we were working on !

Ya'll's plan for weekly R&R/liberty in Bangkok, Tokyo or Hawaii

BTW, you were there about the same time I was...though, by January of '69, I was on the short end of my tour.
