It looks like a tooth from my old chain saw when I worked with Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox up north.

Ah gee whiz, do I have to feed you with all the answers? When I was in high school we called it a church key. Now days they call it a bottle cap opener. It was made out of stone way back before they invented steel. You ask if there was no metal how did they manufacture bottle caps. It could be some kid that collected bottle caps in the 20 century found a way to travel back in time and while there some caveman stole his back pack containing his/her cap collection. The same explanation can be used for the glass bottles. You could question the availability of beer and soft drinks but think and remember they had wine before Christ was born so why not beer, etc. Before you ask me to prove the above to be true, you first prove it to be false. Can I be mistaken? Only if I'm human. I'm I human? I can't tell you because I don't know myself. Good luck to us all and may we be protected by a nonhuman(s).

That’s the bottle opener off the front of my grill.
Thank ALL for responses to my good fortune and curiousity!

Well, people use to "make do" and maybe it's a specialized tool made from scraps of others. Let us know if you get it figured out. We can't let LJ win this with the correct answer.
I just saw this thread and I didn’t see anyone mention what looks like the head of a cow in the middle of the circle. My husband thought if it is a head of an animal that maybe it has something to do with working with a hide? Maybe a scraper of some kind!
