This hysteria and apocalyptic fear mongering reminds many of the 1970 Earth Day predictions that fizzled like a firecracker:
1.
End of civilization in 15-30 years
100-200 million deaths to starvation yearly for 10 years
A new ice age by 2000

That article also lists the top 10 Al Gore predictions that collapsed in the wake of reality:
10 years after Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” guilt/fear producing predictions, let’s close by examining just how accurate his “science” proved to be on his way to the bank.
1. Rising Sea Levels – inaccurate and misleading. Al was even discovered purchasing a beachfront mansion!
2. Increased Tornadoes – declining for decades.
3. New Ice Age in Europe – they’ve been spared; it never happened.
4. South Sahara Drying Up – completely untrue.
5. Massive Flooding in China and India – again didn’t happen.
6. Melting Arctic – false – 2015 represents the largest refreezing in years.
7. Polar Bear Extinction – actually they are increasing!
8. Temperature Increases Due to CO2 – no significant rising for over 18 years.
9. Katrina a Foreshadow of the Future – false – past 10 years, no F3 hurricanes; “longest drought ever!”
10.The Earth Would be in a “True Planetary Emergency” Within a Decade Unless Drastic Action Taken to Reduce Greenhouse Gasses – never
happened.

This is just a taste of the article @

Unfortunately we are approaching another Maunder Minimum, in sunspot activity and these usually preceed global cooling and ice ages. Instead of the problems of warming we could be facing the problems associated with the planet cooling, i.e. reduced growing seasons and famines due to food shortages. Outbreaks of disease, especially smallpox and plague, may erupt as was the case during a previous Maunder Minimum episode that saw the Black Plague wipeout 50% of the population.

People are very good at finding ways to believe what we want to believe. Climate change is the perfect example – acceptance of climate science among Americans is strongly related to political ideology. This has exposed humanity’s potentially fatal flaw. Denying an existential threat threatens our existence.

But that’s exactly what many ideological conservatives do. Partisan polarization over climate change has steadily grown over the past two decades. This change can largely be traced to the increasingly fractured and partisan media environment that has created an echo chamber in which people can wrap themselves in the comfort of “alternative facts” (a.k.a spin and lies) that affirm their worldviews. We’ve become too good at fooling ourselves into believing falsehoods, which has ushered in a dangerous “post-truth” era, with no better example than the subject of climate change

The existential threat to America is people that diminish the respect for America's military, America's Citizenry, American law enforcement, and America itself.

It's people that give pallet loads of cash to terrorists that are yelling "Death to America"

It's people that give Putin 1/5 of America's Uranium. Correction.. not give, sell...

It's people that cause destruction to our healthcare by putting idiot pols between a doctor and patient.

It's people that cause destruction to our economy for the sake of perpetuating a GW hoax.

It's people that destroy the family unit and preach disrespect for human rights.

It's you, and the people you support.

Thinking people don't believe everything politicians tell them to Kev. You, obviously, aren't one of them.

So you believe the " acceptance of climate science " should be a given for people who are non political and rational ? I love how you people invoke science. Anyone who does not accept your science has something wrong with them. If that were true, then " climate science " should have no deception and no mistakes, and yet time and time again the sellers of " climate science " have been caught in deceptions and mistakes.

Science is about the pursuit of truth, about questioning any flaws one finds in a theory. The lies and mistakes that are rampant in " climate science " are grounds for skepticism.

I say that you Global Warming believers are the ones who are anti science, not us skeptics. You are the ones who accept Global Warming on Faith.

Doesn’t take much “context”! Photo on the left is closer. I.e., back out and you see the lake. Uh.....duh!

That Peters is pretty slick.....no?

Glaciers are funny things. They appear and disappear a lot. In the medieval warm period European Glaciers would have retreated. During the little ice age they would have advanced. Cold air can even shift, so that at any time one part of the Earth is warming and another is cooling.

To just post pictures of a Glacier with out a location and a time period is unscientific to say the least. We are supposed to be debating science, but of course we are not. We are debating politics.

Good post. I think the more of this bullsh#t they put out the stupider they look and sound. I remember the TIME Cover story, "The Coming Ice Age". So glad President Trump pulled America out of the Paris Accord.

Didn't ever think I would say this. Kevyn, this was a very good post. You stayed on course stated your position and pointed your finger right in our non-believers face. You just forgot one thing. When you were pointing that finger and preaching to us, there were three fingers pointed back at you. I could have taken everything that you said about us and used it against you'all. That being said. Can you not just agree to disagree ? Without all the name calling.

Sarge, with all due respect, I can't figure out why you are trying to use logic, and reason with this one. He is beyond help.

I wasn't trying to reason, I was trying to throw it back at him. I was trying to show him how all those big fancy words that he was throwing around could be turned back on him. I have a very different dry sense of humor. I like to turn their stupidity back on them. If you notice, when I do this. They very seldom reply and if they do reply, they become combative. Either way I win. Got to admit, its funny. And its a free show.
