Yesterday evening we had to take our beloved English Springer Spaniel to the vet to be put to rest. She brightened our lives for 13 years. I have had to do the same with other dogs but she was the hardest. RIp Cleo.

I am so sorry for your loss, they become such a huge part of our lives,, our family. I'm sure you brightened her life too.

Thanks so much. They do become a member of the family. I am having a hard time adjusting to not sharing EVERYTHING I eat. She is missed.

Uh oh you were one of those. We're not supposed to give them people food! Yeah I'm one too. Our Willie who died last year, used to climb up on the bench, all 140 lbs of him and sit at the table like a person. It was so adorable, we always broke down. They bring so much humor and love, so worth the trouble and messes.and lost shoes and in my case lost brooms and dust pans. I'm really hoping we get to see them again in Heaven.

Is that the puppy you posted last summer? Beautiful, the smart ones are a handful. Leif has something against cleaning tools, demolishes brooms, dust pans, tries to block the vacuum and mop, weird.

Yea, same dog, growing like weed in a manure pile, eats like a horse and he's got 1 gear, high. He doesn't limit himself to cords tho. He ate the damn tail off a custom made coonskin cap I had made. Destroyed every bed I've bought for his crate too, I could go on but you get the picture

What a coincidence. My boss's black lab got killed by a car yesterday. He was playing with my lab when he decided to go across the highway and my lab came back thank God. I don't know what I would have done. My boss's Lab was a good dog , just a lovable dog!

A memorial Christmas gift might be an answer.... https://www.jtv.com/jewelry/off-park--r-collection-multicolor-crystal-gunmetal-tone-labrador-retriever-brooch/1965961.html May ease the pain....

All the dogs we have had, if they are waiting for us, it should be one great big welcoming committee. Please tell me that dogs in heaven don't need to be fed or cleaned up after in the hereafter.

I laid on the floor petting our 16 yr. old rescue when she took her last breath. I still get tears. Mike

Put a towel hanging out of the trunk of a car closest to your yard. Don't use a door as that might throw the guy under the rear wheels. Drive by at about 10 mph and let him grab the towel. He'll never go for a car again and unless he won't let go, he won't be hurt. If he won't chase your car, get a neighbor to do it. Mike

Oh how sad. My puppy Leif has this thing about cars, lunges when the pass, not sure how to cure him of this, before a car does. Anyone?

It's heartbreaking to lose a pet...especially one that has been with the family for many years.

One of the most painful moments of my life was when my dog Sparky got old and sickly. I had no choice the doctor recommended to put him to sleep. I cried so much. My sadness lingered for long until I got another one, and also a cat.
They are sometimes better than human. Innocent, kind, loving, and faithful. They bring joy to your life.

They've got to exercise those powerful jaws and those squeaky toys, never accured to me that the squeak was to be like a screaming animal and they must kill it. Poor Leif my other dogs are old, want no part of his rough housing, so he walks around with a slimey chew toy, hitting everyone in the family trying to engage them in play. If that failes to get our attention , he enters a forbidden zone, by force, retrieves some precious object and holds it hostage. So we must chase him or use bribery by treat. Its like having a three year old little boy again.

Yes it was like that with Willie, the whole family took shifts as he would howl with lonliness if no one was there. He was medicated for pain , but kept reaching out and petting us back, he didnt want to die, it was like he was holding on. Now you got me crying, he was a great dog.
