Oh how sad. My puppy Leif has this thing about cars, lunges when the pass, not sure how to cure him of this, before a car does. Anyone?

It's a bit harsh, but I'd get a training collar with the shock and tone feature. Multiple settings, a couple bumps with the remote and a stern no and he won't go near the road again, they do learn it fast.

Thanks , I will look into it. Had a dog years ago. Mugsey, if we weren't careful a snowplow would unexpectedly show up and he would chase it to the end of the road, trying to bite the blade, its was terrifying as we could see the whole thing from the window. Miraculously he died of old age.

For the last 20 yrs, I've installed 6' chain link fencing in the yard first thing of the 2 homes I've bought. This year I paid $1500.00 for a highly pedigreed german shepherd puppy. Not gonna risk heartache or loss of investment. We are reponsible for our pets safety. The expense is worth the peace of mind believe me. The collar I bought is called Sport Dog, you can get em on ebay for about 70 bucks.

A remote ecolloar that would zaphim when he started chasing anything might work. you have to do the zap, the collar is not automatic. Training the dog to a really reliable recall is a Must. There is a DVD from Dogwise that explains the technique. Of course the best thing is a fenced in yard and a leash when walking the dog.

We are not allowed to have fencing, would have to be invisible. Unless I'm in the woods, he's always on leash. We live on a dead end dirt road, usually quiet. Will get the zapper. He reliably comes to a whistle and treat., msurely dontcwant to lose him, also paid $1500, he's
really beautiful and sweet, but naughty.

Newfies are great dogs. The Landseers are a little more stubborn than the blacks and brown (bronze) ones.

Get some empty soda cans put some rocks in them . Drive by your dog , as soon as it starts chasing the can throw a can or 2 . It may take a few days. That should do it .

Yesterday evening we had to take our beloved English Springer Spaniel to the vet to be put to rest. She brightened our lives for 13 years. I have had to do the same with other dogs but she was the hardest. RIp Cleo.

Thanks 2wheel, I had a German Shepherd a long time ago. He was the smartest most loyal dog I ever knew. I plan on another one but not for a while.

Is that the puppy you posted last summer? Beautiful, the smart ones are a handful. Leif has something against cleaning tools, demolishes brooms, dust pans, tries to block the vacuum and mop, weird.

Do I throw the can at the dog, or is it just the noise.
