Funny how we end up on topics like this in the political section, eh? Even desperado and some others lend a hand. And they say the two don't mix!

But it is impossible for a believer to separate their beliefs from their politics, or anything else in their lives for that matter.

Amen and Amen you are spot on and that is the whole crux of the argument you either believe in God and follow him or you don't and follow the other entity called Satan.

And we make ourselves very unpopular by stating that fact.

Long story short, I get alot of my info from this site, seeing whats posted and by who and what the arguments are. I find myself increasingly drawn to the discussions which concern faith, or the lack thereof. It is clear to me that ones faith
Determines where one falls on the political spectrum and that ultimately these are all spiritual issues. When you search the issue right
back to its source, there is God and a decision made as to whether or not He is Lord. The debates are ad nauseum, but when you look at the world, it is following the path foretold in scripture. The only real debate is whose side are you on? Who or what is at the center of your universe. Yet we doggedly try to recreate it all in our own image. Anyone get this?

I am glade you have recovered. Being sick is never easy physically, emotionally and can drain your finances very fast so hope all are in recovery mode. As to your remark . I believe in God and Jesus but do not belong to any faith or church lost trust in them many years ago and am on the conservative side of politics. I have felt when we started removing God from our lives we as a nation started a down hill slid

Glad to have you back. I would suggest before you jump into this snake pit again, take a week. Get a note book as I did. Make a list of those here that are here for true rational discussion. Respecting each others point of view. DEBATE NOT HATE. Make a list of those here only to create division and promote personal opinions without any facts. Yes, the debate is who's side your on. If you take my advice you will see that there are those here that have become so consumed with hate that at this point in time all we can do is pray for them and like we say in Alabama, "bless their heart".

So sorry you were ill. I hope your recovery is complete.

I have to agree that the state of our culture is at the root of what causes the problems we are seeing in society. And faith in God is what gives one the right foundation to make the right choices.

My condolences at your loss CK, I too have lost many good friends. All my goodness, when I bother to try, honestly, is as filthy rags. I can look back on all the "good" I have done, and there have been some heroic feats, but generally they fueled my own ego. Thank God for Jesus Christ who covers us with His goodness.

I had that quote in mind but could not remember where it was from, thanks.

And believe this; if not for the restraining presence of God's Spirit this world would devolve into chaos and utter depravity in a matter of microseconds.

I have been writing prayers, thoughts, and/or reflections for almost two years, but other commitments have come up so I'll be leaving at the end of the year. Reading through here, you show how you feel about our country so I thought you may appreciate my reflection for this day in History.

Reflections for December 7, 2017

Today, this date, how can I write other than about the sneak attack in Hawaii, by the Japanese. They sent bombers, fighter planes, and torpedo planes to attack the U.S. naval base there. I remember listening to Franklin Roosevelt declare we were at war. It was a war effort everyone got behind, patriotism seemed to run in our blood.

As a young girl, I remember collecting Lucky Strike packages to peel the aluminum foil out and roll it into balls. My mother took the aluminum balls to wherever they were to go for recycling. Rosie the Riveter became in fashion, everyone pulled for the war effort. Manufacturing ballooned, and people were making more money than they had ever thought possible.

A Japanese General was quoted as saying, "We have awakened a sleeping giant!" That strong sense of patriotism, the sense of God, country, family rang loud and clear, no blurred lines back then. We believed God was on our side, as we had been fully unprepared for war. So many have drifted far away, forgotten the sacrifice, it is time to return to our knees and pray. Dear Lord, we pray that You will once again place Your protective hand over our land. Amen
