Man had free will before the fall. When he disobeyed God, sin entered into the world and man lost the freedom to choose between that which was good and that which was
evil. Man’s nature changed to one that only rebels against God. It takes the blood and the Resurrection of Christ to change that nature.

How can you claim to have "FREE WILL", and yet Disobeye someone/something?

Or are there different interpretations of the words "free will."

I'm kind of lost here.

ehhhh. Free Will means you have the ability to disobey.

That's what it means.

Super,

That answer seems to be typical of Religionists. "This" means "this", except when it doesn't.

You either have freedom to do as you will or you are restricted in some ways, which of course means you do NOT have free will.

This is the kind of silliness I find in all religions.

In my opinion no religion is anything other than a con used to control the hoi pollpoi.

Religions are human constructs, designed to benefit some humans at the expense of lower IQ "human animals" and control the herd.

Interestingly, Charles Manson never personally killed anyone. He was a "religious Cult leader" who talked members of his tiny cult into murdering 7 people in a misguided effort to start a civil war. He called it "Helter Skelter".

No, you absolutely do have free will.

Having free will is different from being immune to the consequences of your choice.

Your free will allows you to shove a fork into your eye repeatedly. It does not protect you from the blindness that results.

It is very simple. Adam had a choice to do either do A or B. It was up to him. I don’t know what else you can call free will. You love to make everything so complicated. I think you are attempting to show everyone how smart you are, instead you are lacking in understanding. You are a DoDo Bird.

I don't know how you would get the thought that I expected no consequences as a result of any action, stupid or not. I don't see where you get that out of anything I wrote.

I simply hold that free will is free will and when you bring a mythical figure into it claiming that that figure forbad what you did, that you have no foot to stand on claiming that free will exists in that situation. And I think you know that very well and are just changing the direction of the discussion so that you can avoid the truth of the matter. This sort of digression is typical of religionists.

Free to act or think, means FREE to act or think.

I'll explain it simply. Try to follow without your AntiGod bigotry clouding your vision.

Your problem may be that you're confusing God with Government in 1/2 of your argument. If that's not it, I don't know what's infected your thought process on this matter.

But let's make it simple.

1. You are free to think anything you want. Proof of that is your posts on this subject. Ignorant and incorrect as they are, nobody stopped you from thinking them, did they? No, they didn't. God didn't, and Government didn't.

2. God does forbids many acts, but He doesn't stop anyone from committing these acts. Government does.

Government locks people up to stop them from stealing or attacking someone. God doesn't, and nobody thinks He does.
Government forces pedophiles to stay away from children. God doesn't, and nobody thinks He does.
Government freezes assets to stop people from moving them offshore. God doesn't, and nobody thinks He does.

I could go on... God gives you Free Will, government does not.

Sam, As the old saying goes, "Was you dere Charley?"

I hold that you never knew "Adam" or anything about what supposedly happened at any time before you reached the age of 4. With examples of how history has been re-written during your life, and all the BS. that finds it's way into print today I would expect you to be extremely suspicious of anything that requires suspension of logical thought and relies on you believing people, some of whom have been shown to be pedophiles, and crooks of the first water.

Whether you think I am smart or stupid has nothing to do with the discussion. Just what is more logical.

That an invisible, magical figure spoke to the "first" human on the planet, (who married first a haridan called Lillith (where did she come from if Adam was the first human?) then hooked up with another sneaky female who fed Adam an apple, which the invisible magical figure forbad. And so all of us are sinners and owe alegiance to some religion. (Put something in the pot, boy!)

Or that some smart guy dreamt up the whole story so he could sit in the shade and relax while the dumb "believers" did the work for him.

BTW the word sin was first used to describe missed shots by archers who were practicing.

Super, Now you bring Govt. into it. Where do you see me mention it during this discussion?

Oh, you don't. Well then why bring it up. Especially in a way that would seem to imply that that is part of my thoughts on the subject.

I just find it hillarious that people are so hypnotised/ brainwashed on this mythical stuff that they can't keep the silly stuff out of their posts.

I have no objection to you believeing that the moon is made of cream cheese, or that an invisible man, who lives in the sky, spends all his time watching you. And he has a set of rules that some guy wrote in a book, and if you violate any of these rules you will, when you die, be sent to a very uncomfortable place where you will be tortured and burn and suffer for all eternity.

Oh and He LOVES you......

And he can't handle money, he always needs money.

(And yeah, I didn't make that up. You probably know who did.)

You have no understanding of Christianity, do you?

It isn't a secret, and it isn't complicated.

Every person breaks God's laws, every day we're conscious. We even break the 10 Commandments.

We all fail to be Godlike because man is not Godlike. Man is born of a sinful nature.

We live in God's presence after mortal death only through God's grace, and by having our sins washed away by Jesus' blood.

Every man uses his free will for evil and good.

Whoever old you one sin casts a person to Hell is a false prophet.

God bothered because he loves us.

Loves us? Guess that depends on your idea of what love is. It appears to me that God has a general dislike for the human being. Given some of the information found in the bible; Past floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, killing Egyptian babies, everything He did to Job and let’s not forget the promise of hail of brimstone. He doesn't seem that gifted to create people He actually likes, let alone loves.

So in spite of being all-powerful and inclined to smite anyone who rubs Him wrong? He seems to be somewhat insecure. The bible states in part, …he is a jealous God. Indeed no doubt, He is jealous of anyone or anything which is given any respect or praise. So, He wants more than anything to be loved. He craves our love, but in His hard core way, He goes about getting it in all the wrong ways. For instance, He tells everyone that if they don't love Him, He will have them tortured for eternity in Hell. Well, any deity with a clue would know this would be a counterproductive approach to getting affection.

A True Christian™ will entertain you with talk of love and spirituality, but the only thing a True Christian™ wants is to get into Heaven. After all, regardless of whatever else we say, it is all about us. A True Christian™ also wishes to do pretty much what he/she wishes before claiming his/her eternal door prize. Fortunately for us, we can eat our cake and have it frosted in the afterlife. You see, the Lord doesn't really care what type of person you are. All He notices is whether you fawn over Him enough. You see, to Him, it's all about Him. Yes, some may say He is petty and insecure placing such a premium on adoration won by dangling mansions in Glory in front of avaricious humans, but I think He is rather forthcoming about the whole thing. He told us He is a very jealous god, so at least He is trying to work through His issues. (He clearly went through some anger-management between Testaments.) In any event, possibly he needs to take the advanced anger-management course.
