I know where my daughter lives in Cherry Valley they set the hours for trick or treating and then they post them and announce them on the radio so all will know the hours. They enforce the hours as well and people turn their lights out right on time and lock the doors.
must be a small community but I like that idea

Where I live, the Mexicans bring in large vans full of children. They park the vans on the street with the headlights on and run from home to home. A neighborhood celebration becomes a way to take advantage.

Saw the same practice years ago . That is teaching those kids how to scam early in life .

Isn't that the idea of Halloween - taking advantage of those who buy candy to give away? I think that's a good idea and it protects the children. What would you do with all that candy anyway?
I do recall that many schools held celebrations indoors in order to cut down on the possible mistreatment of children.
I do recall that Thanksgiving was also used for the children to beg, I recall, "Thanksgiving is here and turkeys are fat. Won't you please put a penny in the old beggar's hat? We would then donate how many pennies we collected to a charity.

Did you forget that it's Halloween and door-to-door trick or treating is the custom? I would say that they were becoming Americanized and adapting to our customs. Would you be so resentful if all the children were white?
I would suspect that you are probably a Christian too.

dogs that size I call ankle biters their hard to fight off
Well thank you for sharing your Christian beliefs with me Alicia .
Does taking advantage of others kindness ring any bells for you Alicia ?
You know , like busing your children into neighborhoods where people
expect to care for their neighbors children . Not people from out of
their immediate district , town , state and in some areas , countries .
I give a lot to people of my choosing . Frequently and year round .
Monthly over the years to organizations that I have chosen .
BTW . Since you are so kind-hearted , post your address and I will see
to it that buss fulls will show up at your door . That should make you an
even better Christian and allow you to exhibit your kind heart to all comers .
In the interim please continue casting stones .

Do you still get trick or treaters? I haven't had any for several years now.
I live out in the country, never have had trick or treaters, the houses are too far apart. Here it's the churches and businesses in our small towns who hold trunk parties or something similar
Where I lived as a child. The palomino. Would come over to be petted and the old people down the road would give me and my brother each a piece of a pie she baked . Plus a war story from her husband. About the people he served with . Ken never talked about his duty
