Were we not 'genuinely' attacked on 9-11 ? Hey, brian, we won Iraq--until barackhussein stepped up to the plate ! He's messed up everything he's touched. Now we're the most vulnerable people in the world--from within and foreign terrorists. If we had a Pres. Reagan back in the White House, we'd still be the most powerful country in the world, instead of being the laughingstock.

Yeah, we all know the Iraqi invasion made sense after they attacked us on 9/11. They cleverly disguised 17 of the 19 hijackers as Saudi Arabians. Of course George W (let me be photographed kissing a Saudi Prince) Bush gave all Saudis a quick exit pass from the U.S., while the dust of 9/11 settled.

As far as the Iraq invasion and subsequent slaughter goes, "Who in hell told those Iraqis that they could store OUR oil under THEIR sand???

Obviously, your treatment isn't adequate--you should upgrade to drugs AND counseling.

OK. Next time I see a "let's pretend civil war re-enactment" between the blue and gray, I will stop, place my cap over my heart, and realize they are fighting for my right to be a jen-u-wine real murikan. No commie-pinko mixed race Nancy boy Muslim Kenyan homos for me. I want us to be led by a manly-man like the-shirtless-on-a-horse, Vladimir (I'm not gay....really!) Putin.

Ronald Reagan??? Everyone's favorite celluloid cowboy and soldier. He, with a little help from Hollywood was able to weasel out of military service due to being "near-sighted". He, however seemed to have no problems spotting the babes and reading mega$$$$ movie contracts.

My father, and my wife's father were both very near-sighted and served their country in war-time. My father was bombed at Pearl Harbor. My wife's father was badly injured and lost a kidney in France.

Ronald Reagan and John Wayne, two hall of fame members of the chickenhawk pretend soldiers hall of fame.

Reagan and Wayne, however had contemporaries who were not cowardly poseurs. Clark Gable and Jimmy Stewart come to mind.

I agree with you both but I am curious since WWII what war have we won? we have quit every one half way through. oops forgot Granada under Reagan

Yep, we don't fight to win anymore, unless someone can count it a political win, which is even more stupid. I know some people don't want to count Granada as a war, but from someone who was there, when folk shoot at me and I have to kill them, because I was ordered to be there - it's a war.

Be that as it may, it should be clear that nary a politician is our friend. I am given to understand the Repubs blocked a Senate Veterans bill, who the hell knows why. We can give up our arms, legs, brains and lives for them- and they just don't care. I think every politician should have to walk 5 miles of road that, more than likely, has IED's planted on it. Then we'll see just how brave they are. Texting a vote doesn't require much bravery, forget about honor, none of them even know what that means.

MILITARY SERVICE OF RONALD REAGAN

Ronald Wilson Reagan enrolled in a series of home-study Army Extension Courses on 18 March 1935. After completing 14 of the courses, he enlisted in the Army Enlisted Reserve on 29 April 1937, as a Private assigned to Troop B, 322nd Cavalry at Des Moines, Iowa. He was appointed Second Lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps of the Cavalry on 25 May 1937. On June 18 of that year Reagan, who had just moved to Los Angeles to begin his film career, accepted his Officer’s Commission and was assigned to the 323rd Cavalry.

Lieutenant Reagan was ordered to active duty on 19 April 1942. Due to eyesight difficulties, he was classified for limited service only, which excluded him from serving overseas. His first assignment was at the San Francisco Port of Embarkation at Fort Mason, California, as liaison officer of the Port and Transportation Office. Upon the request of the Army Air Forces (AAF), he applied for a transfer from the Cavalry to the AAF on 15 May 1942; the transfer was approved on 9 June 1942. He was assigned to AAF Public Relations and subsequently to the 1st Motion Picture Unit in Culver City, California. Reagan was promoted to First Lieutenant on 14 January 1943 and was sent to the Provisional Task Force Show Unit of This Is The Army at Burbank, California. Following this duty, he returned to the 1st Motion Picture Unit, and on 22 July 1943 was promoted to Captain.

In January 1944, Captain Reagan was ordered to temporary duty in New York City to participate in the opening of the sixth War Loan Drive. He was assigned to the 18th AAF Base Unit, Culver City, California on 14 November 1944, where he remained until the end of the war. He was recommended for promotion to Major on 2 February 1945, but this recommendation was disapproved on July 17 of that year. On 8 September 1945, he was ordered to report to Fort MacArthur, California, where he was separated from active duty on 9 December 1945.

While on active duty with the 1st Motion Picture Unit and the 18th Army Air Forces Base Unit, Captain Reagan served as Personnel Officer, Post Adjutant, and Executive Officer. By the end of the war, his units had produced some 400 training films for the Army Air Forces.

Reagan’s Reserve Commission automatically terminated on 1 April 1953. However, he became Commander-in-Chief of all U.S. Armed Forces when he became President on 20 January 1981.

MILITARY SERVICE OF RONALD REAGAN br br Ronald W... (show quote)

Yeah, I'm sure he came under heavy enemy fire in Burbank.

Ronald Reagan was delusional for much of his life. He fondly, to Menachem Begin, recalled his non-existent participation in the liberation of the concentration camps in Europe.

Begin, the Israeli Prime Minister and holocaust survivor wisely said nothing.

At least he served his Country during the entire war. LBJ got out after 6 months in the Navy in order to return to Congress.

LBJ??? Just goes to show you that not all of our worst presidents were Republicans. Have you ever met a Democrat who considered Lyndon Johnson to be a good president???

He wasn't even admired by Jackson and Sharpton, though he was responsible for the War on Poverty and the Civil Rights Act.

Yeah, but whatever good LBJ did was canceled out by the unnecessary carnage in Vietnam. My democratic peers all hated him, as well as Richard Nixon. Something to do with the all expenses paid free trip to southeast Asia, that they both were pushing.

Ignoring LBJ's criminal expansion of our presence in Vietnam as akin to saying to Mrs. Lincoln, "Other than that.......how was the play".
