The Founding Fathers view of religion in politics...
Despite the Republican right always calling this a "christian nation" and claiming that the country was founded on "christian principles".... here's some real world quotes to put the swift boot of reality in the picture...

“Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law.” - Thomas Jefferson

"What is it the Bible teaches us? -- rapine, cruelty, and murder. What is it the Testament teaches us? -- to believe that the Almighty committed debauchery with a woman engaged to be married, and the belief of this debauchery is called faith.” - Thomas Paine

"It is too late in the day for men of sincerity to pretend they believe in the Platonic mysticisms that three are one, and one is three; and yet the one is not three, and the three are not one" - Thomas Jefferson (loosely paraphrased, he is saying anyone with any shred of intelligence pretending to believe in god is a liar and a moron lol)

"The way to see by faith is to shut the eye of reason." - Ben Franklin

"Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst." - Thomas Paine

"In every country and every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot ... they have perverted the purest religion ever preached to man into mystery and jargon, unintelligible to all mankind, and therefore the safer engine for their purpose." - Thomas Jefferson

"In the affairs of the world, men are saved not by faith, but by the lack of it." - Ben Franklin

"The study of theology, as it stands in the Christian churches, is the study of nothing; it is founded on nothing; it rests on no principles; it proceeds by no authority; it has no data; it can demonstrate nothing; and it admits of no conclusion." - Thomas Paine

"I cannot conceive otherwise than that He, the Infinite Father, expects or requires no worship or praise from us, but that He is even infinitely above it." - Ben Franklin

"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisoned; yet we have not advanced an inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth." - Thomas Jefferson

"It is the fable of Jesus Christ, as told in the New Testament, and the wild and visionary doctrine raised thereon, against which I contend. The story, taking it as it is told, is blasphemously obscene.” - Thomas Jefferson

"Lighthouses are more helpful than churches." - Ben Franklin

"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit." - Thomas Paine

"Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise." - James Madison

"The United States in is no sense founded upon the Christian religion." - George Washington

"This could be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it." - John Adams

I could probably post more than 100 of these.. but the point here is that the founding fathers were never the holier than thou dogmatic drones the ultra right wants to believe, and even worse, wants to convince you they were. In reality? George Washington was a brewer / farmer, John Adams was a lawyer, Sam Adams, Thomas Paine, and many other were smugglers. Ben Franklin? A retired inventor looking to get laid (which is literally why he went to France lol)....

these were men in the right place at the right time, nothing more. There weren't grand people that we should worship (aside from Franklin in my personal view), they were men who stood up in their time, lived their lives, and should be admired for their actions. Lets just stop pretending they were some dogmatic figure that fits your own world view... they probably don't.

I totally agree, as things escalate going forward so do actions, language and divisions.

You can see slowly starting to take shape with issues like this... everyone is going to have to choose a side to fight.

There is no other way to Stop and reverse the damages to Restore the Republic, and the Liberal MindSet is Toxic and counterproductive to our Sovereignty and preserving our way of life.

Totally.

They are so misled, brainwashed, programmed to the demise and so blind they can’t see it unless someone close to them is murdered.

there are over 65 million legal gun owners in this country who obey the gun laws and you bitch and want to punish everyone. Some one on opp put some info on here about most or all mass murders were done by people on antidepressents. People on these should not have guns and there needs to be a reporting of people put on such medications so they can not buy weapons. But if you had payed attention he was capable of setting off a bomb had all the elements to make one so its not just guns tds they will find a way no matter what they use.

It's miracle that you have the incredible ability to monitor all 65 million legal gun owners to be certain they obey the law!
Now that's what I call talent!

Well, well, well. All of a sudden a conservative is pulling for federal control of the states.
What happened?

CNBC, the wing nut digest you made reference to, published this:

"However, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported Monday that a 29-year-old man was arrested in Sonoma on Sunday afternoon. It said he "was seen leaving a creek bed where a fire was burning."

Sonoma County Sheriff Robert Giordano confirmed Tuesday afternoon that an arson suspect was arrested Sunday.

Overall, the wildfires have scorched more than 220,000 acres and destroyed an estimated 5,700 structures."

You do note that this story was repeated from the Santa Rosa Democrat so I guess you are correct about wing nuts. As far as tea baggers, that is not my sexual predilection so I will bow to your superior knowlege.

Sonoma County Sheriff, Rob Giordano, reported in the LA Times that they had arrested an illegal alien vagrant who was in a public park and had built an open fire to keep himself warm. Such fires are illegal all over California and the park was not located anywhere near the origin points (17 points) of the fires.

As is usual, the lame stream leftist media seized on the most inflammatory (pun intended) interpretation, of what was an ordinary arrest, of a minor nature to create the impression that illegals were burning down our country. The days of William Hearst's Yellow Rag Journal have never ended.

So sneer all you want, the effect created was exactly what the leftist journals wanted.
CNBC, the wing nut digest you made reference to, p... (show quote)

A homeless man was arrested for starting a fire, but the sheriff confirms that his campfire was nowhere near the major fires.

We don't need "Immigration Reform", that is the liberal way of saying (open borders and amnesty). Isn't it interesting how liberals keep coming up with words or phrases that really don't mean what they sound like?

TERMS I DON'T LIKE

1. Assault Rifle
2. African-American: Charlize Theron is from South Africa yet she is not considered to be African-American
3. Black Lives Matter: This is a racist group based on a lie. The only difference between it and the KKK is the race each represents. One is as bad and racist as the other and the main thing they have in common is that both were created by Democrats.
4. Caitlin Jenner being referred to as "SHE"
There is no end to the way ****ing Liberals will twist words to say something they don't mean or come up with new words: Intergenerational Sex / pedophilia...
Affirmative Action/ hiring due to race...
comprehensive immigration reform/ Amnesty....
Transitioning / you lost your ****ing insurance...
War on Poverty / welfare
Martial Law / Continuity of Government,
welfare / transitional living fund,
unemployment insurance / a transitional outreach to individuals who are chronically unemployed - and ...on and..on

I recommend reinstating the immigration laws of 1960 and enforcing them.

A homeless illegal alien who had been arrested multiple times and had ICE detainers lodged against him. These detainers were not honored because the Sheriff said they needed a judge to issue a warrant. I think that is a crock because the Sheriff had no problem arresting him without a judges warrant simply for breaking the law but it suddenly becomes necessary for a judge to determine that an arrest can be made for breaking a federal law. This is cover-your-ass speech and nothing else. They were derelict in not turning the alien over to ICE but they want you to believe it is a matter of protection from law abuses.

The main scream media started the accusation that the alien had started the fires in order to drum up sales. As usual, there is no truth in the newspapers.
