Take some NyQuil. It'll help you sleep well.

That is true and that's what I used to do. The antihistamines in NyQuil have a bad effect on geezers, like me, with enlarged prostates. It makes it really difficult to empty the bladder. It's like doubling the size of your prostate. Ten minutes, twice a night does not help sleep.

Another take of liquor.

When a bar sets up their liquor supply, they use well written books and knowledge on what is the best scotch, bourbon etc. What is top shelf and what is a well brand. Then they have to pick what beers to serve. So how do they do it? They watch television. All to many bars and restaurants have the absolute worst taste in beers imaginable. And the idiots buy it.

Now we have so many different GOOD beers from countless microbreweries. Some are not good, but so much is damn good. And then their are the different types of beers, porters, stouts, weiss, pale ales, Lagers, hoppy ales, lagers and even flavored beers.

Then some idiots came up with the idea of light beers. Watered down trash with little taste or flavor. And don't give me the crap about less filling. Just slightly lower calories, stifling taste. My attitude on light beers, if you really want one, is to pick a good beer. Then add one cube or two. Extra light, three cubes or four.

I went to a party in a bar this last weekend. We had a package deal, all well drinks and domestic beers. The domestic beers were Miller Lite, BudLight and Coors Light. Garbage one or garbage two or garbage three. After a nice tip, the bartender got me some bottles of Miller. While I prefer a good IPA and more hoppy tastes, I can easily drink one of the old fashioned beers of America. Miller, Genuine Draft, Schlitz, Budweiser, PBR, but light is garbage. Years ago, Amstel came out with a light beer and an ad campaign saying, "They didn't know light beer was supposed to suck." They were so right.

If a bar has say, something like ten taps, and they feel that they need something for those that want something less intense then some good foreign beers or craft beer, they need to consider their customers. Sure, the light beers sell to the kids and those without taste. If they need that, okay. but they should also have at least one standard, large brewery type of beer like Miller, Genuine Draft, Schlitz, Budweiser, PBR for those that can't take the heavier more flavored micro beers or foreign beers, but still don't want garbage.

Rant over
