I live in Maine and am what is called a senior citizen. I dislike the tone of much political discourse especially on this site. I love people who are not into political rant and have to struggle to love those who love it. I appreciate kindness and civility. Never compromise on principle but always, always love those who define themselves as an enemy.

Welcome aboard. I am also one of those senior citizens and love to talk to other people in a civil manor. However I will not take any guff from anyone. Being a religious person, you can stand by to be told in no uncertain terms that you are a fool to believe in someone that does not exist. It's a shame really, because of the fact that they don't believe, therefor you are not allowed to believe. There are however people on here that share your views and I am one of them, but just be ready to be called several names if you talk about religion.
Thank you. I have had a long day and am ready for bed. I look forward to an exchange of ideas and not an exchange of insults JPBIII
On April 3, 1965 Radio Commentator PAUL HARVEY delivered Memorable Speech called " IF I WERE THE DEVIL." Type it in Search of your home page and listen.
I think Paul Harvey had said some things I would agree with but by no means all. I am not a Patriot and don't believe in going to war. Axis Christians killed Allied Christians. Christ never took up arms. He was offered worldly power and refused it. Nationalism is a form of idolatry. But many other things were well said. We in Maine are suffering an epidemic of drug addiction and violence.
Yes. Rural pristine Maine. Spouse abuse and Child abuse are rampant and too many Mainers in this so-called booming economy are without work. And many who could work won't. I was as I said under the topic of Rush's comment on women and Democrats-which was true enough-was a Tea Party guy before there was one. No more. Religion is the answer but one must be in the right one. Thanks for your post. JPBIII

People who care about issues get a little emotional. Even the people on this site I dislike are still better than the run-of-the-mill average, apathetic American voter, who is more interested in who wins "American Idol" than who wins the Congressional seat in his district. Ignorant, uncaring voters are what got us into this mess. Opinions can differ, very impolitely at times. It is a funny thing about those elected officials: The ones who know they have voters watching them closely act like they have sense.
Alas I was born on Staten Island. They should have kept riif raff like me out. I am glad they didn't. But I snuck in 25 years ago and every day here is a joy. Come again. I own a house here we had for 45 years and knew many Maine folk before we moved here when my son was 12. It was a wonderful place to raise a kid. But even here now there is the scourge of drugs even in small rural towns-even meth labs.

Political talk is fine. Rush is never insulting. I find his perspective on things interesting and find him, if full of himself, always being civil to his callers. I do think the world is going to hell in a handbasket JPBIII
It is good to be passionate about what truly matters,I agree. But temperamentally, I always try to be gentle if relentless in advocacy for what is right. Christ is a wonderful model. As we all know he was harsh at times but remember when dying he asked his Father that his killers be forgiven and still loved them.
I agree with you 100%! I listened to programs of his from 1969 in to the 1970's. What I did Learn from Paul Harvey is that he was straight forward and honest. It was just recently I heard his Memorial Speech " If I Were the Devil." He reminded me of Nostradamus. What a Mind!
When I listened on WOR in New York I always enjoyed The Rest of the Story. JPBIII
God, I hope not. The main problems with religion is that most people don't know the meaning of the being a true Christian I.e. living your life as if you are Jesus Christ. You all have met people in your life that wouldn't recognize Jesus if they met him face to face.
Religion already believes that they know all the answers so why ask any questions. The Catholic church was sure in the 1600s that the sun revolved around the Earth.
The old Testiment was written so long ago that we are trapped into morality that sanctions slavery, wife beating, and a God that enjoyed wiping life off the planet whenever the mood struck him.
Folks we have real problems right Earth now. We need solutions that look for the real truths
