Theo, take a week,go into the backwoods with what you think you need to survive with and find out if it will work. If it does next time do two weeks.
Good luck

I'd like to get some feedback here. If you were going to go off the grid and live in the wilderness, what essential survival tools would you need? I'm not talking about comfort items. Just the bare essentials for survival. What items are a must have?

My list.

A good knife
A hatchet
some way to get or make clean safe drinking water
A gun or bow for hunting
Copper wire for snares
Warm clothes and shelter.

Rope or paracord.

Ve'hoe, you've given excellent direction to Theo about outside. My real concern for anyone who thinks that they can survive outside is this. Are you ready to do outside ? Now what about the misstep over the log that puts you on the ground with even a sprain ? How will you now hunt and fish if you're lucky enough to be near food bearing waters ? Here in the North when I hear someone talking about living off game, I wonder how long do they think all of that game is going to last or stay around? Most have no idea about edible and medicinal plants. If we really have a collapse of our systems most won't survive and even if they do a simple health issue will end it for many.
If you don't want JESUS in your short life here what makes you think that you'd want to live with HIM forever, or that he'd want to put up with you ?

Bring books on the subject. "Alone in the Wilderness" is one to read BEFORE you head out. "Edible Wild Plants" by Dykemen & Elias is one to keep with you always. A good book on Mushrooms is good if you like to eat them.

Yes, prior experience is a Very good idea. Hunting is only part of the equation. Fishing and finding food are as important as being able to grow your own food. Shelter and water are the first priorities.
I went off the grid back in 1984 for six months. The first 2 months were the hardest. I only did spring and summer. Winter is a whole different story. That's what takes the most preparation.
