Every so often I tune into Fox News to get their perspective on things. And so I saw Carl Tuckerson posing a question to a guest. Here it is (paraphrased)

If they want to protest, why not write a letter or gather in a park..? Why do they have to use the flag?

It's difficult for me not to assume he's being an ass but I'll save you guys the elaboration and just answer the question.

The reason why these athletes have chosen the flag and the anthem is because the STADIUM is their platform, so...

1. There's lots of people there to watch superstars
2. The athletes ARE the superstars
3. There's a flag and anthem tradition
4. There's national media coverage

These athletes recognize the flag and the anthem as the most important of these things, as most Americans do, BECAUSE, just like us, they have been taught to honor the flag and the anthem. So they use quiet and respectful gestures to draw attention to racial inequality and police brutality while the anthem gives context to the gestures.

There is nothing irreverent about quietly taking a knee. For thousands of years people have dropped a knee before a king or an altar as a gesture of reverence and appeal. And it's appropriate because their protest *IS* an appeal to the American people and our constitutional system. That isn't represented by the audience of football fans or the crowd around them... Our republic is represented by that flag and the anthem that brings our attention to it.

So please Carl, don't cheapen the flag by turning it into a political device. Instead, validate the honor of the flag by considering the grievances of the citizen kneeling before it.

But when your thugs become a nuisance, we will handle them accordingly.

So go ahead buckwheat.

Get down on your knees.

Another Mister Magoo post by one of the resident Commies....the Flag has more valor to it, then 1,000 football teams. People served and died under that flag, to represent the USA and NOT to represent some STRAIGHT UP HORSESHIT that you scum dogs have placed on it. The Flag and what it represents scares the crap out of you lefties....back to worshiping your hag hillary and the kenyan king for you....punky boy.

Quit trying to confuse the symbolism of taking a knee on the playing of the national anthem. It has zero to do with a "gesture of reverence and appeal" and everything to do with a lack of respect for what the flag symbolizes - freedom. The "grievances of the citizens" shouldn't be displayed at an entertainment event where the audience has paid good money to be entertained. To the entertainers, I say entertain. And if you want to do something other than entertain, then the audience shouldn't be charged. After all, if you want me to listen to your political views, then why should I have to pay anything? Especially if I disagree with those views.
Our flag represents the highest ideals possible of any country in the history of mankind. Our country is not perfect because, in the final analysis, all countries are made up of people - and people are imperfect. But to greater degree than other country on earth, we've more than made up for our past mistakes.
Question: when will these entertainers quit taking a knee and disrespecting our flag? When social injustice no longer exists in our society? Because it will always exist, even to some slight degree.
The answer to this question tells me that these entertainers will ALWAYS have a reason to be disrespecting the flag. Because perfection will never be achieved as long as people are still in flesh bodies.
And hence, like any cancerous existence, these 'entertainers' should be removed from the body for the good of the body. The body politic has a much better chance of fully healing itself without the disruption caused by these outlier pockets of inflammation. Remove the inflammation, and the body returns to normal. Simple.

Well, you ARE allowed to have your own opinion.

waltmoreno wrote:

Again, that's your opinion.

waltmoreno wrote:

The audience paid for two hours of football and that's what they got. If the two minutes before the game where the players took a knee pisses off a spectator to the point that he can't enjoy the game, that's his own fault. If he spent those two minutes honoring the flag instead of looking around to see what the players are doing he wouldn't have even seen them. So stop overreacting.

Don't buy tickets... problem solved.

waltmoreno wrote:

Not exactly... the flag represents the United States of America. Whether the United States of America achieves the highest ideals possible for any country in the world is a matter of opinion.

waltmoreno wrote:

I'll interrupt you there to give myself an opportunity to agree with you.

waltmoreno wrote:

And, we're back to the bullshit. I never understood this jingoist attitude where we insist we are better than anyone else. It compels people like you to say the stupidest things. Why can't we just be decent?

waltmoreno wrote:

That's a good question and yes, social injustice will always exist, but as you suggest it can vary in degree. Maybe they will stop when they can see that degree change, even slightly. But don't expect the American people to back down just because they're told to. Our founders didn't exactly break free of their colonial yoke by accepting social injustice just because they were told to.

But as long as there is social injustice there will always be entertainers who advocate social change. So you just defeated your own argument with your own logic.

So... racial profiling and police brutality can continue to exist without being questioned. Well, not to put too fine a point on this, but fuck your normal.

Maybe NFL fans should bring some bottles of urine and bricks to toss at the players and then riot and tear apart the stadium...after all YOU thought all those types and forms of protest were cool for antifa to do and cool for your fellow maggot liberals to do...lets see now...30 or 40 thousand angry people tearing up a football team or two and a stadium...to make a POINT! Sounds good to me....PLEASE be out on the field when this happens...you sure deserve your brick or two and a few dozen bottles of urine tossed on ya as well. Oh wait...we have to make sure all the protesters in the stands that riot against the team and tear up the stadium...will KNEEL in protest, too!

There is no racial profiling by anyone other than you liberals and blacks themselves. The police just do their jobs. That is why you and your sick puke types do not like police, as you think you should be able to break any laws and have no accountability. After all, you have been diddling your kid for years and dread the police ever finding out.
