Robert E. Lee was the greatest American soldier this great nation has ever produced. All you have to do is study his great accomplishments on the battlefield. If he had Jackson at Gettysburg, the outcome might have been different. Both, together, were a legend.

They will start with Samuel Clemmonds, Mark Twain, because in one of his books he calls Sam a Nigger. There are other Southern writers who use similar terminology that will be ripe for the fires of book burning. Since most of our cherished documents like The Constitution, DOI, Bill of Rights, etc. should be burned because most of this content was written by slave owning dirty old White Men like Jefferson and Madison. When it gets to this point, it is time to pull out the guns and start killing a few of them.

A sad state for a great American, and a great soldier. What are they going to do, tear up his grave next, and plow under his former property, Arlington National Cemetery? He didn't fight for slavery. He fought for his state of Virginia. And he fought admirably.

They would have to burn down Washington & Lee University and the Lee Chappell. Arlington Cemetery was started as a result of Union Soldier's anger towards Lee for choosing the Southern Side. It turned out to be a good thing because a lot of great American soldiers are buried there like Audi Murphy, Joe Louis, Lee Marvin and others.

You don't know your history very well. When the war broke out, Lee commanded a regiment in Texas. He was a full colonel. This was his last command before his resignation.

Well, look it up. It might not be a bad idea.

We don't give up easily. Man, those are fighting words. Perhaps the public was not informed or people realize they'll just be called racist and white supremacists and the statue will come down anyway. I'm sure the media was there waiting to cover a big riot and make white conservatives look really bad. Fooled 'em, we did.

Actually, I don't think anyone was there--save for the crane company. I guess you fooled everyone real good...

Yeah, you northerner's didn't have a racist bone in your bodies--at least until you all moved to the south and us democrats all moved up north--then that racism thing flipped sides didn't it, how about that...

Unfortunately your post truly indicates the promotion of ignorance when (as did the NAZI) government starts attempting to re-write history by burning books, integrating progressive thoughts into our children and removing visual references and monuments.

With that claimed I now correct your ignorant statement that "Lee had never even BEEN to Texas":

FACT: Lee served in Texas from 1856 to 1861 as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Second Cavalry, during which time he distinguished himself as a scout and engineer.
