You should be damm proud you're legislators can go and vote against disaster relief for other states and then have the rest of the country helping you. Yup all Texans claim to be American only when they need the help of the big government that they hate. What is scary is the American people even though Texas rejected disaster relief for other states this country did step up to protect Texas from there own ignorance.

I was extremely disappointed in our legislators, along with many other Gulf state legislators voting against, for example, disaster relief for Hurricane Sandy victims. I have friends on the east coast, as well as a few family members, and understood their predicament. But, I did not have a personal say in the congressional vote. I remain a proud Texan, flawed as ours and any/all other state legislators may be at times.

Yet, having said that, I still and will always consider myself first as an American citizen and patriot.

Well I am happy to hear you say that. We should all be Americans first. We have the greatest government in the world our government works best when this two party system works together no matter who the president is. But for some reason our government lost one simple thing we send them to Washington to work together. But when Obama got elected the republicans right after inauguration the republicans came out and said there Main goal was to make Obama a one term president. And they did everything they could with the most Obstruction of any president in history. What a great way to divide this country. Then Trump a few months later started with the Birther BS which opened the doors to thousands of conspiracy theories further dividing this country. Trump later admitted he was wrong, but that was to late. The lies the misinformation the 6 years of investigating Benghazi, Which lead to emails, even though the Bush White House had many embassy bombings even though Bush White House had a private email server in the closet of the RNC office. Then more conspiracy theories hearings after hearings 395 subpoenas millions and millions of tax payer money spent no legislation of any kind just find as much dirt for political gain (AND IT WORKED) we now have the most disgusting piece of garbage in the White House that's concerned on gaining as much wealth as he can. It's starting to back fire on the republicans. This guy cares about nobody and his base is down to 32% he only has 11% of the independents. He has not forfilled anything he promised but that 32% could care less. But the biggest problem with the Trump supporters and the republicans over the last 10 years you absolutely refuse to read legislation you have absorbed all these conspiracy theories for years and you have lost site of real facts like legislation and how you're legislators vote case in point Texas legislators vote against disaster relief. But what has really bothered me about Texans is there total lack of knowledge of what Obama did for them he issued checks averaging $6.6 billion a year for Texas droughts and floods for 8 years. He issued thru the stimulus package a check for $6.8 billion dollars to Texas for there Shovel ready jobs this was for job creation. Rick Perry took those funds put it in his general fund and balanced the state budget. Then ran for re-election on the basis that he balanced his state budget during the worst recession. Then told his Texas voters how the stimulus package did nothing for the state of Texas. So does that show totally and 100% ignorance on Texas voters and there hate for Obama. They refuse to understand legislation and they say Obama did nothing for a Texas. How Texas recieved $1.85 for ever dollar $1 in fed taxes paid but democrats suck. You have this massive disaster this government step to the plate with our massive capabilities how many government agencies were down there the way this government reacted was incrediable the massive amount of food and water, equipment, medications , and government personnel the billions of dollars and guess what when this is all over these Texans will go back to denigrating democrats for being big spenders that grow the government that very same government that saved a lot of lives. So why would you say you did not have a say in the way you're legislators vote. Did you not vote those people into office did you not reelect
Cruz/ Cronyn.
Did you not see Trump cutting disaster relief by $1 billion what Texan knew that. But Trump took the $1 billion to build a mock up of his wall now how can it possibly cost $1 billion for a mock up.
But you love Trump and that's why I call it Texas ignorance they hate the very same legislators that protect them for there own ideology of ignorance.

What I find most discouraging about zealots from either side of the ideological/partisan aisles is that they lump everyone into one side or the other. Does it ever occur to you that there are those of us who, caught in the middle of ideologies, are not automatically swept into the camp of either?

As I wrote, about 48% of Texans did not vote for President Trump. You seem to imply that by him carrying the state, all Texans must be his sycophants. Not so, but he still is president of all Americans. Elections have results, whether one agrees with those results or not. By voting in the last election, I basically agreed to abide by the results. And, after casting my vote, I literally have no say in how my legislators vote in Congress...whether I pulled the lever for them or not.

BTW...respectfully, please do not attempt to lecture me on the mechanisms of Texas politics. I am quite certain of being at least as informed as you profess to be. I can recall the politics of Texas from my childhood during the 50s, and have kept up in the decades since. I stop short of calling you ignorant, as I don't find you so...though your biases are clearly evident.

Td, stop it.. You have become a broken record over the issue repeating it in any number of threads..

People don't care right now about some political position right or wrong in how they voted..

We are a people of true Americans and we love our country and its citizens.. The devastation in Harvey and now Irma means we put politics aside and help each other, period.. We help other nations and we dang sure take care of our own..

We are people of a Nation where humanity obviously rules regardless of political view or party, or color or anything else..Why can't you just put it all aside and see this ???
