I tease squids too, but any fellow Marine that I've ever known, like myself, if called a coward, would make those doing the calling have to prove it to me personally, and I'm very hard to convince. This has nothing to do with this thread, but just a survey to see if we all still feel the same as we used to when I was still on active duty, which was a long time ago? I'm just too stupid to believe I'm not the same man as I was back then, but some day someone may be able to prove that I am not, maybe, but they'll damn sure have to prove it to me. The question was serious, but I understand how coming from another jarhead that one would think such a question could be leading to another joke about swabbies. But maybe I should have asked what if another Marine made that accusations about you? This does involve a conflict I'm involved in with someone I believe is not what he claims to be, and who is very duplicit and active on OPP.

We have been called many things historically that we have not engaged in any response. We are
comfortable in our skin, knowing that we can accomplish what most can not. However, when they
take action to press their agenda on the people that rely on us to protect them, we are capable
of great destruction, mentally and physically. However, you may want to keep an eye on the Navy,
seeing as they feel it is their God given right to make our life miserable. They get drunk and cranky,
and feel they are the only ones allowed to attack our character! Ask bb, he fully understands.

Same question to you PoppaGringo, how many Marines do you know who will quietly, and politely accept being called a coward, and many times over by the same person, for not answering a couple simple questions in a discussion?

Seems that there are an awful lot of Marines on these Opp sites.

It is because badbobby has the utmost respect for his fellow marines he feels compelled to show them ...He is ever so mindful of delivering the finest military men there are to their destination.. He did it with pride no doubt...

Besides where can we read such pleasantries expressed by badbobby, slatt and PoppaGringo and not sit there laughing awaiting the next reply....

It gives me great pride to see them standing in their personal pride and pride of service duty..
That built in camaraderie cannot be touched...You all earned that right too....

And I'll bet you really thought that was a joke! It was a sarcastic statement about what anyone who is not a Democrat, thinks about people who are registered Democrats, at least that is what I think, do you not seriously agree?

From my good friend Amageddun...

Wow!!!! Only in Riverside Texas !!! You will not believe what happened to me today.

I pulled in to get gas at the BP. Having only cash I had to pay inside.

As I was walking in, I noticed these 2 state troopers watching a man who was smoking while pumping gas. I saw him & thought, "Is this Man drunk, stupid, or just crazy?!! With the troopers right there too?!"

But anyway, I went inside and paid. As I was checking out, I heard someone screaming, i knew what was happening. I looked out the window & the man's arm was on fire! He was swinging his arm & running around going crazy! As I went outside, the troopers had to take him to the ground & they put the fire out with their coffees!!

Then they handcuffed him & threw him in the police car. I, being the curious person that I am, I asked the troopers what they were arresting him for...

The trooper looked me square in the eyes & said ... "WAVING A FIREARM!"
From my good friend Amageddun... br br Wow!!!! On... (show quote)

Thanks for sharing one of Armi's better ones, Salty

Well said, Mongo. It brings to mind an old quote from Benjamin Franklin, I believe, about responding to scurrilous attacks from those who would attempt to besmirch you (especially Squids ) ..."Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to left unsaid the wrong thing at a tempting moment."

Well, one would have to consider the source, but from a normal person, whatever that means, my answer would be...none. Tho' the mind is still fairly active, the ol' bod ain't what it used to be. I have to sometimes remind my gray matter that I have been out of the Corps since '55 and to let some things slide, especially here in good ol' Mexifornia where even owning a firearm can sometimes spell trouble. The lefties out here don't believe the 2nd amendment is viable to anyone but they themselves and their hired gunsel's.

Well, as you say Salty, "the ol' bod ain't what it used to be"...but it certainly served you well on the dance floor with your break-dancing on 6th St. in Austin on your visit with me back a couple of years ago. You reminded me of Don Ameche in the movie, 'Cocoon.'

The ladies were impressed, also.

Well, I had to show the young bucks, and Swabbies, how it is done. I recall you doing quite well and being second to none of the others. The Gobs were getting a wee bit antsy with all the girls swarming us. We also did AOK at Black's Beach, but that is something best kept among the two of us.

You got it, my friend To paraphrase, 'What happens at Black's Beach...stays at Black Beach.'

Well bless you Poppa, I understand completely that we all must only do what is appropiate for the circumstances we find ourselves in, and sometimes it takes more courage to accept that, than to do what we want, and what we would normally do without having to think about it.

But from what you expressed about California, it sounds to me that you might enjoy living in Florida, as I do, where you only need your DD-214 (discharge papers) to acquire a concealed carry permit, no questions asked. Plus it's a lot cheaper to live in Florida than in California.

I was born and reared in FL. until the age of 16 when my parents migrated to damyankee land. When I couldn't abide that any longer, I joined the Corps. Having been here most of my adult life, I don't think I could move back to FL. The humidity would kill me. I can still recall the summers when my shoes would literally grow green mold overnight. I used to visit there every other year to see my granddaughter and her two children. I had to pass this year due to an infirmity, but hope to be over that by next spring. Both my granddaughter and her husband carry. Acquiring a CCW permit is danged near impossible in CA. Unless, of course, if one is a celebrity with connections or is a licensed bodyguard for a celebrity or politician.

I understand your concern. Not all posters that claim to be Marines, have been one. I don't allow myself
to be rattled by a name calling keyboard warrior. If they were former Marines, they would show respect
by simply avoiding conflict with you. Or, they were "sht birds"when they served and continue to be in civilian
life. There are many here that will have your back.
