I suspect that the former pagan Roman high priests who converted when Constantine did wrote and edited much what is called the gospel. These former pagan priests became high ranking officials in the new religion.

We have copies of the New Testament dating back to the second century. A thousand years older than previously thought to exist. Guess what. Both copies are identical. A thousand years, and nothing was changed.

Identical, now there's a word. A Catholic priest once told me that there are over 1,700 differences between the KJV of the Bible and the Catholic Bible.
So much for being identical. Personally, I believe in reincarnation.

But there are insignificant changes between the original texts and the Bible that I own. And it's not a Catholic Bible. The Catholics have made changes. They've even added entire books. And they will answer to God for that. However, there are no changes to the New Testament.
