My self I would hope we could find a way to set term limits for everyone in DC, from judges to the paperboy. Well ok maybe not the paperboy. I also think it would be nice to set congress up to have a ready replacement. With the people holding the power to fire any one in congress that does not hold up their end. Rather than having them vote for their own raises, they should have to go the people that voted them in, and ask for it. If the people say no way, then they don't get it.
Is thre a way we can talk this out with all the grade school kids showing us they have the mind of a 1 grader?

If I can have only one than it is term limits on all Federal elected and appointed positions. Otherwise:
· A balanced budget amendment.
· A redefinition of the General Welfare Clause (the original view was the federal government could not spend money on any topic within the jurisdiction of the states).
· A redefinition of the Commerce Clause (the original view was that Congress was granted a narrow and exclusive power to regulate shipments across state lines–not all the economic activity of the nation).
· A prohibition of using international treaties and law to govern the domestic law of the United States.
· A limitation on using Executive Orders and federal regulations to enact laws (since Congress is supposed to be the exclusive agency to enact laws).
· Imposing term limits on Congress and the Supreme Court.
· Placing an upper limit on federal taxation.
· Requiring the sunset of all existing federal taxes and a super-majority vote to replace them with new, fairer taxes.
Other proposed amendments include measures to protect the right to life and an amendment that would allow two-thirds of the states to negate a federal law.
This would be a great start, return the Appoinment of Senator's back to the State Legislators of each state.
Where they could be removed at any time by the governor. This was the original method of selection.

How about making it a hanging offense for accepting any money or gifts from lobbiest,
Term limits on congress two terms that's it, and payed for the time spent in session.
That all laws and programs that apply to citizens also apply to members of Congress.
No private healthcare, no retirement for life.
That the Speaker of the house and the sergeant of arms to reprimand anyone that breaks a law, or who does not perform their duties.
The President terms be set to 6 years.
I am in agreement with most all of you on here. We the people should have some input on what their representatives are doing and saying.

There are several critical amendments that would instantly transform America:
1) Fair Tax amendment eliminating the IRS and replacing the current production tax system with a consumption tax system with point of sale electronic distribution of tax revenue.
2) Executive Branch elections performed completely by Congress with no confidence vote taken upon demand.
3) Elimination of US Mint and conversion of US Monetary system to electronic only.
Congress installing POTUS? Too much power to gubmit.
Fair tax will need an IRS. The amendment would have to outlaw most forms of taxation.
Electronic money as a sole means would be a disaster.
I know this suggestion is out there. I would like taxes used to run the Federal Government to be paid by all. From the paperboy to the congressman.
When we go to war, build infrastructure, whatever, everyone should have some skin in the game.

If you invited a congressman into your home for a meal he could be killed.

If the people have the right to fire them, is that not enough? Or do you think the people should be able to fire them, and then bring them up on changes? We need to work every thing into one Amendment, so we must make it clear. Yes I am going to write one up, and it will be sent out to get as many people to sign as we can.
Lose the idea of.the people directly firing anyone. That is what elections are for. If you.think a national vote can be called for every politician that torqued off enough people, we'd do nothing but vote to fire them daily. It takes too long and is too costly.
Develope language that makes dismissal from office automatic.
Perhaps a clear cut job description for every office including what is not allowed would be a better approach. It seems to me that these jobs have hazy lines that make it too easy to transgress. It has allowed these positions to morph into a self sustaining machine that functions with almost no limitations.

Those are all excellent common-sense suggestions. But excepting of term limits for SCOTUS none of them are really enforceable.
Once they become an amendment they become enforceable. Setting the parameters is the tough part.

Subjective parameters don't work.
It would be like an Amendment against 'bad legislation'. Nice idea, but undoable.

Difficult, yes. Undoable, not sure. It would be worth a shot. If enough people could agree on the parameters, but that is the hurdle. Maybe not possible but worth the try.
