As we know a person can't just add an amendment to the constitution. However, we do have the right to submit any that we think would be helpful. SO if we could pick just one thing to work out the details on, what would you pick first?

My self I would hope we could find a way to set term limits for everyone in DC, from judges to the paperboy. Well ok maybe not the paperboy. I also think it would be nice to set congress up to have a ready replacement. With the people holding the power to fire any one in congress that does not hold up their end. Rather than having them vote for their own raises, they should have to go the people that voted them in, and ask for it. If the people say no way, then they don't get it.

Is thre a way we can talk this out with all the grade school kids showing us they have the mind of a 1 grader?

I'd like to see an amendment allowing the removal of any federal judge at any level if they rule based on political preference. And I want term limits for the SCOTUS also with the same threat of removal if they stray from the constitution.

Another would be that every law should be written in plain English that is understandable to the average voter. Needing an attorney to explain a law is counterproductive to the public held accountable by said law.

Not a bad choice. BUT I would also add that any elected official have an accountability factor and if crimes are committed by that person by way of using their position, to face some very ugly redress against them...like prison sentences or even a death penalty.

Make Abortion illegal nationwide with stiff penalties for those who break the law. Treat it the same as Murder of an adult !!

I agree. However, I would not only see term limits with the stipulation that no Congressman would be allowed to retire and thus get retirement money from the government, but that all laws and programs that apply to citizens also apply to members of Congress.

So add that not only congress is answerable to the people that vote them n, every one voted into is. OK that is only right. We can work with that one.

If the people have the right to fire them, is that not enough? Or do you think the people should be able to fire them, and then bring them up on changes? We need to work every thing into one Amendment, so we must make it clear. Yes I am going to write one up, and it will be sent out to get as many people to sign as we can.

Amendments and laws are in separate categories. Though we the people do also have the right to submit bills as well. That is a little easier than an amendment, yet you would still need to have a lot of folks sign your bill, before it would even be considered.

Didn't think of that one. It would sure make them think long and hard before passing a bill that might hurt the job market. I think a bass starting pay would be good as well. Like say around 75,000 a year to start. That woulds save the tax payer a shit load of money right off the bat.

Term limits on congress two terms that's it, no more of this life getting voted in congress when they don't do anything except get in the way of everything it's sickening and I hate it.

We have one vote for 2 terms. I was thinking one, though I can see why 2 may be a bite better.

Those are all excellent common-sense suggestions. But excepting of term limits for SCOTUS none of them are really enforceable.

I'd go 8-10 years per house. I'd cut down their retirement drastically, put housing in for them in DC and cut their pay way down.

But this will have negative consequences as well. The staffers and the lobbyists don't have term limits and their power may actually increase drastically.

Many great suggestions. It will take more than one additional amendment.....which is fine with me.

There are several critical amendments that would instantly transform America:
1) Fair Tax amendment eliminating the IRS and replacing the current production tax system with a consumption tax system with point of sale electronic distribution of tax revenue.
2) Executive Branch elections performed completely by Congress with no confidence vote taken upon demand.
3) Elimination of US Mint and conversion of US Monetary system to electronic only.
