The U.S. Senate voted 98-2 to apply sanctions to Russia based on nothing but unproven allegations that Russia exercised improper influence over the presidential election. The House voted 419-3 on the same bill. The bill seeks to tie the hands of the President by giving Congress the final say over sanctions concerning Russia. This is Congressional over-reach.

When you consider that there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Russia has done anything improper vis-a-vis our elections or Ukraine, this is pretty amazing. We should have normal and peaceful relations with Russia. So, why don't we?

At the same time, nearly half the Senate has signed on to a bill to criminalize people or companies who choose to boycott the state of Israel for its human rights abuses against the Palestinian people who live under Israeli occupation.

One of the troubling points is: Who will a civil war benefit? I've had an uneasy feeling for many years that the rise of conservative radio and television talk show hosts were no accident and were created for the very purpose of creating unrest and eventually igniting something akin to a civil war. Anyone with a brain should realize that we the people, armed with shotguns, are no match for the government's military. That poses the big question: Whose side is the military on? If one looks at Venezuela, the military is on the side of a repressive administration.

Americans' lost much of our assumed freedoms after the 9-11 attacks through the patriot act. Americans' are spied on regularly, the sad part is that we've accepted this with very little protest. If the military is not on the side of those of us who think as conservatives, then I feel the designed result may be the total suspension of America's constitutional system of government.

If one looks at the way things are being done in Washington presently, then most would conclude that this pack of rats won't be on the correct side of the issue, should civil unrest occur.
