One last thought about tattoos and my thoughts about them, that you asked for.

Aside from he fact that they are permanent, and are useful in identification, the usefulness of each kind of cancel each other out in my mind, I have to say that I have always thought them kind of childish. I guess you could call that a bias, but it subconsciously prejudices me with regard to the wearer.

Btw, if they are meant to be "no one elses business" why bother displaying them. The wearer consciously or not, must be trying to make a statement to the observer, or what is the point?

Kind of like an avatar that indicates feelings of insult and derision for those reading the associated post.

Nice segue, but let’s get back to the subject of the string.

I have to say I have always thought people who invest this much time in expressing opinions about matters which are none of their business are rather childish. I believe the term is busybody.
You should correspond with our boy Glaucon. He is another wannabe psychologist.

Loki, you are a professional discussion disrupter using your usual tactic of non-sequiturs. You have become silly and boring.

Say hello to the boys and girls at Mossad where “We Will Do War by Lies and Deceit”, for me.

Another opinion factory. Just what we need. Any discussion you involve yourself in is nothing more than an opportunity for you to hone your skill as an obnoxious blatherskite.
You claim that I have become silly and boring; that is a considerable improvement over your own small-minded and parochial pettifogging.

I tried to be polite, but any discussion with you soon turns into an attack by you, typically using a straw man, to present your interpretation of what other posters are saying and using words your opponent never said, and answering them in your inimitable fashion to take over the discussion. Just like a troll.

Yesterday on this board you stated that you wore your tattoo of the hated M. P. “Service” because you were proud. You wrote...“A word about tattoos. I have one; a Military Police insignia on my shoulder. I earned that one the hard way and I wear it as a sort of boast.”

In a later post you suggest your tattoo is none of anyone’s business.

You can not have it both ways. I feel the tattoo is childish, but also your right. I only commented on it because you asked. And “Frankly, Scarlet I don’t give a damn.”

Same with you insulting avatar. Before a reader even has a chance to read your post, you tell every reader your true nature. I will say that is a polite thing to do, warning the reader how you are going to treat what they write. I don’t think it flatters you, but that too is your right. I just think you ought to get a better picture of yourself, at least shave and get a haircut.

You never "tried to be polite." Your comments were insulting and condescending, and you accuse me of your own tactics. Just like a troll.

The "hated MP Service?" I was not aware that MP's were hated, except by people who got busted for criminal activity. Are you saying you were one of those?

"In a later post you suggest your tattoo is none of anyone’s business."
My decision to get a tattoo is none of anyone's business. There is a difference, not that you are astute enough to discern that difference.

I certainly can have it both ways. Whether or not you approve is not a factor. You think a tattoo denoting military service is childish. I think your obsession with it is indicative of a venal personality. (See, I can be an amateur shrink also.)
If you don't give a damn, then STFU about it.

Insulting is in the eye of the beholder. You seem to have a problem with opinions. You place far more value on your own than is warranted by the content, or lack thereof.
Every post you have directed at me has been derogatory, ( in a dilettantish sort of way). Your calling it "polite" notwithstanding. I answer courtesy with courtesy. I answer self-righteous hypocrites such as you with the same contumely they offer.

I never had any contact with M.Ps., but I did have contact with S.Ps. when, during the last year of my enlistment I was a brig NCO. One of the most common comments I heard S.Ps. make was how they were very insular because they were so hated . I will bet that the Army M.Ps. were in the same boat .

You started the Tattoo thing by asking, “So, when you see someone with a tattoo indicating military service, you think them to be an idiot?” in your usually inimitable way.
You were apparently spoiling for a fight.
I had written about tattoos from the standpoint of my surprise at suddenly seeing the fad appear, “like magic” and an hypothesis to explain that. Never said the word “idiot” other than recalling a joke made by a comedian years before.

You state,...“A word about tattoos. I have one; a Military Police insignia on my shoulder. I earned that one the hard way and I wear it as a sort of boast.”
Then you state that whether you had a tattoo or not was nobody’s business.

To whom was that brag aimed? Obviously the observer who was meant to see it on your arm.
I merely pointed out that either it was meant to be seen, which would make it the viewer’s business; or not to be seen as it was nobody’s business. And that you couldn’t have it both ways.

Let’s face it, you display a very aggressive personality, as demonstrated even by your choice of avatar.
I tried in earlier posts on this string to keep my reaction as cool as possible when dealing with you, with the result that you just became more obnoxious and aggressive. You tend to write as though you miss being able to use your billy club.

Since every discussion I've had with you results in bad feelings, I am going to avoid them in the future. I'll let you spend your bile on other poor souls.

Hope your future is better and allows you a good and long life.

Yes, you are. I kind of hope that eventually we'll get along.
