Well.....she does keep talking to me. I'll try again at work tonight when I'm alone, and there is no John Wayne movie on tv.

It must be a combination of correct answers as well as the speed with which you complete the test, based on your age. I am 66 years old. I got all questions right but I only scored 138. Time must be a major factor because I took about 15 minutes to answer the question about the number of squares in the diagram. I had to draw it out to count the squares because every time I tried to mentally count them I would come up with a different amount and couldn't remember which squares I missed from one time to the next. I had to draw the diagram and deconstruct it to count all the squares accurately. However, I would say this test is fairly accurate because my actual IQ is 136.

That's a skill a lot of young people can't do. I learned math at a very early age and could do most problems mentally. I drove my teachers nuts because I wouldn't show any work. They wouldn't believe me until they asked me questions and problems verbally.

Today the kids all have calculators and they can answer quickly. I wonder if they really understand what and they are doing, or why.

A true story:
I went to the store to buy some items; toothpaste, shampoo and a couple other incidentals which came to approximately $12.--. I also bought a comforter for my bed; $49.99. The clerk scanned all the items, but the comforter would not scan. She had to enter the barcode and the price manually into the register. When she entered the price she must have not pressed the "9" hard enough one time because it rang up at $4.99 even though she told me the comforter was $49.99. When she hit the button to total the sale it came up as $17.--. Then, nothing; no reaction on her part! It never occurred to her that $17 was a lot less than the $49.99 that she had just stated was the price of the comforter. She just went through the motions...GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out), like an unthinking robot. Except a robot would have entered the correct amount for the comforter in the first place.

So, the minimum wage that fast food workers want is $15/hr. Maybe when they learn to be competent at their job I'll support this. It seems like every time I go to these establishments I end up with a wrong order or the wrong change. No wonder they are being replaced with automated kiosks. This only hurts the lowest skilled employees who are affected by the technology. Instead of getting $15/hr, they are instead out of a job. If your full time job is working for McDonald's at minimum wage then you have bigger problems than earning a livable wage. These kinds of jobs were meant for part-time employees as an entry level or while going to school. We have already eliminated many of the jobs that high school kids can do; paper routes, baby sitting, mowing lawns, working the hamburger stand, because there are too many people without skills filling these jobs and trying to earn a living to support their family. Therefore, they don't earn enough to put substantial money into circulation in the economy nor buy quality products that would demand more higher skilled employees in the workplace. This means the government has to subsidize these people, which means higher taxes for the rest of us, which translates into less spending power. It appears you can't fix stupid, or as Forrest Gump would say, "Stupid is as stupid does."

Sorry. I didn't mean to digress.
